Will a 14 inch wheel clear the brakes on a 88 C/S Daytona with solid rear brakes? I want to say yes but I am not sure.

Thanks Paul

I honestly don't know if they will. I don't remember how the caliper mounting brackets were situated on the rear. I know they'll clear the fronts.

Yes, factory 14s will fit over solid-rotor rear discs.

UPDATE: Dodge shadow 14" alloy wheels WILL NOT clear the solid rotor brake set up, without a lot of work of work. I was able to make them fit. The front do not have any clearance issues just the rears. Just wanted to save other people the time, trouble, and cost.

Update: After much manipulation of the rear two 14" Shadow wheels the project was a complete failure, one of the rear wheels broke in half on the final run. Just put 15" wheel on the car and save yourself the time, trouble, and money.

Well hot damn. That must have taken a lot of grinding! Can you post or find a picture of the style of wheel you are talking about? There are probably almost a dozen styles of 14s that came on k-cars, and some solid-rotor cars even came with 14" wheels on them like ac/ay bodies. The 14s i have tried have fit, but apparently not all of them do.

There are similar issues with the vented rotor setups where some factory 15s rub and some do not depending on style.

If you have a pic we can put this to rest and make sure i never tell someone else the wrong thing again. :(

Ditto^^^

I have some 14's on mine now and the later style solid rear discs waiting in the shed. 5 years in the making I hope it all fits

Same...I've had 14" wheels over the non-vented brakes before, too. Please let us know what wheels you had issues with.

Reminds me, years ago, when I put 1988 rear discs on my GLHT, I also had to get the space saver out of the Donor Daytona, as the Omni one wouldn't clear the calipers.
Thanks

Neon 14s should fit just fine if you really want to run 14s. They were designed to clear rear discs.

Did Neon's come with 14" wheels and rear disc? All I've seen are 15" wheels with rear discs around here, or drum, which will fit, of course, durrr, :p

Yup. All 5-lug 1st gen Neons came with 14" wheels. (some 1995's strippers that had 4x100 13" wheels) All R/T's, ACR's and cars with ABS came with 4-wheel disc.

Guess its a USA thing. From what I've seen and serviced, 13/14's came with drum, 15"s had disc.

What years? What 15" wheels came on 1st gen Neons in Canada?

We aren't talking wheel sizes but rear disc vs wheel size. I've seen Neon's with 13's-I sold one, 14's, 15's and 16's.

Yes, I mentioned the 13" exceptions. No 1st gens came with 15" or 16" wheels. Many of them did come with 4 wheel disc. I've owned two with 14" wheels and 4 wheel disc.

Interesting on the 1st gen wheel specs.

If I recall correctly the steel neon 14s will clear rear discs too. My first neon had rear discs and one steel wheel on the back.

Interesting on the 1st gen wheel specs.

I owned a 1995 neon with 4 wheel disc and abs with 14" aluminum wheels.
