What vehicles/engines came with the 52mm throttle bodies? And are the numbers stamped in the top of the mounting flange correct for identifying them, or are those just serial numbers?

I've got one I don't remember what it came off of. I had to modify mine. I had to remove the belcrank from the stocker and weld it onto the 52mm one. I'm using the stock atx cable and a t1 throttle cable. The 52 mm setup wouldn't work.

Early 3.0s. After 90-91 they went to a 48Some 3.3/3.8's. Just take a 48 with you, the 48 throttle opening will start to fit in the 52'sIve snagged a few off of 2.4 cars, stratus, neon, etc. Its a crapshoot on them. Also remember some of the cars have altered TPS wiring, and different sub connectors. The AIS motor shouldnt of ever changed, though.

Actually going by another recent thread, I thought the AIS was different . . . ? People were having difficulty getting the cars to idle properly using the 52mm TB with a 48mm AIS. It was the TPS that was the same, or could at least be interchanged. Either way, I got a chip from Shelgame about 4 years ago that spec'd a 52mm TB that I'd like to actually finally try. So off to the junkyard for me!

From what I remember, you do have use the 52mm AIS. I had to change the TPS wiring on mine. My stock plug was totally wrong.

3.3's had 52's stock and matching vac lines the same as the turbos.

Yep, scored one off a 3.3ltr Dynasty. None of the 3.0 cars had the vacuum ports, nor were they 52mm.

The early 3.0 minivans had the correct vacuum ports and auto cable bracket. This changed in 89 I believe. 87-88 seems to ring a bell. Most of them are in poor shape now though. Still have a NOS one I believe somewhere.

The only minivans I saw in the yard were '92 and up. Three '95 GTC LeBarons. One '89 Omni, and a '92 V6 5-speed Daytona. Been forever since I've seen a proper turbo car out there.

The 52mm TB's have a larger AIS hole and therefore require the correct AIS motor, which has a larger cone on it. I believe you can use a 52 AIS in a 48MM, as the larger cone will plug the smaller hole with no problem.

I know they are different because I removed the AIS from one of each and measured the cone w/ dial calipers.

Ditto on the AIS cone. Side by side, I could see a difference without even measuring it.

I need to go back another day when I have some torx bits with me to grab an AIS for the other TB I have.
