We know the stock Daytona axles were modified by someone for Consulier.
Anyone know who did them?
Anyone have how much the axles were shortened/lengthened?

I don't need one right now but would like to plan ahead and have a pair in stock.

Could we get one of the non running project car owners to send theirs out to dss and have some made? Id pay for shipping.

This is the main reason I won't be drag racing the Consulier

Don't even shift gears in most autocrosses, what are you worried about ?

I go to second all the time. Some courses I have gone to 3rd….but thats rare, and was in ex-air field ones.

No, not that I remember..broke a few trannys though.
The axles used to go bad often, but not break.

Are they just cut, sleeved and welded to lengthen them?

I had one done 5 decades ago at a truck shop. They cut weld and balance.

Yeah I meant Wah's car. But you needed a spare.... :) You'll need a body bag this year, you're goin' DOWN!!

I had the boost set on infantile last year and still squeezed a victory. Maybe I will turn it up this year after knowing Slowe has put his finger print on your car :)

Plan on bringing 2 cars at least this year. Would like to bring 4 and may make it happen

I was going to make a comment but I know it would be taken WAAAY out of context, Justin is on these forums... ;) Better turn the boost up to ludicrous my friend, because it's about to get real.

Can't believe no one asked what I ran.... best time was 14.47, best light was .579 but not bad for my first time ever out at the drag strip

But back on topic. I've got a squeaky u-joint and am dreading replacing it because I might as well repack the CV joints while the axle is out...and I might as well do both sides while I'm in there...I gotta be careful or I'll get too deep into it "while I'm in there" Last time I went down that road I ended up swapping a motor.

Missed your post saying you drag raced it. Very cool. Best indicator of power / weight is mph. What was your mph? We replaced cb joint also and replaced the motor so maybe you are onto something there

Duh he's got to keep you guessing.. throw off your concentration.

Oh wait wrong guy. In that case yes what MPH???

Think it was 94.31 .. I'll have to go dig up the slips. Aaron said his best time was 14.1 BUT he did say that he blew the tires away doing a 4500rpm launch on one of the runs. I just bogged at 4500rpm but I'm running the 225's out back and it was about 70° outside. Engine temp was also around 150° due to the long time between runs and me not knowing exactly how long I'd need to let it warm up. Mine seems to run better at temp then when cold.
So many things were going on. 1st run I shifted into 5th... runs 2 and 3 were in 4th.
I'll need to get it back out once the BOV is installed.

I would think stock Consulier should be in the 103 mph range. My glhs with stage 2 computer fan 14 flat at 101 and Consulier is a little lighter. For what it's worth, in my wet dreams last night my t3 Consulier went 10.9 in the quarter and just nipped the Lambo Aventador in the other lane

Lambo holeshotted you on account of your axle fears

AXLE NEWS!!!!

We have discovered the Drivers side is the same as a Caravan of the same vintage.
BUT the passenger side is not!

Looks to be about an inch longer.
You might have read, Harold broke down with his GTP, they tried the caravan axle in the
passenger side, did not work. Thus we discovered the issue.

One thing I was wondering. Is the short extension shaft the Daytona style one?
If so, can a 5-speed Caravan one make it so the axles are the same?

Good to know when I start digging around for axles at Rossien.

How did Harold break down? He broke both axles or you just wanted to change them as a result of breaking something else?

Johnny

Hit a pot hole I guess. Broke a passenger rear shock, which made that side axle go bad.

Geeze!! That must have been one heck of a pothole! Of course I had a CV go bad once because of hitting a really hard bump a few years ago. I swear the car got air!
