I just talked to Ian at Rossion, he has ALL the parts in the containers out back of the building that contain all the GTP parts for sale. One lump sum. ALL molds, all jigs, all parts.
Anyone want to pick them up for about $20k?

Would you have the rights to make parts off of the molds and sell them though? That's the real question in my mind. Otherwise that's a lot of cash for a potential repair down the road.

Lets split up the cost.. the boat industry means there are skilled peeps with this kind of stuff right?

$62,000.00 in 1990 had the same buying power as $114,584 in 2014.

Ian needs the space or cash....either way sounds like he's worked his way into a corner again. I'll see if I can get in touch with Rob ( Red Ebay consulier guy ). He said he had wanted to buy all of the molds and such.

I would be very cautious in dealing with Ian.

I guess I won't be able to afford one when you guys start cranking them out... :(

Did Ian say that there are molds in the container for SURE.
I would want inventory of what is in the containers.
I am in the boating industry and 25 year old molds will not be ready to make anything out of.
IF they exist there will be many many many hours to get them in workable condition.
I have my doubts there are a full car of molds in the containers.(I have asked some people that know.)
Just remember who wants your money.
Again what is the inventory ...??

That would need to be checked on be for any $$ changed hands.

He can walk into a container anytime he wants and remove whatever he wants and technically its not in the containers and doesnt convey with the " container sale".

So ALL parts related to the Consulier GTP and plans and paperwork and log books and build books, etc....would have to be included for sale or no one would ever bite.

Oh look, 25 windshields, 30 sets of Recarro seats, body molds, control arms and 10 new motors al inside the warehouse....sorry not included in "container sale" ... LOL

Get another sucker Ian.

A windshield thats funny....I would say good luck finding just one.
The car is cool and all but it is 25 years old.
IF there are molds do people want them to make a 2014 Consulier...or whatever the name would be...???
The MT 900 is an old body style now days.

Oh there was at least one decent usable windshield in there :)

You couldnt sell a new Consulier. Hell people didnt want them at $20 grand you think they want one at more than that.

Molds would be from accidents on the street, track, etc...

Agreed!

If you get into an accident requiring a new mold you could probably get a new car for cheaper than what it would cost to have someone lay up a one off piece that big.

Plus any new cars would have to be sold as kit cars as they wouldn't meet the current crash test ratings for a new car, and I'm not even sure if that would fly.

I think they could get away with it because the volume would be under the minimum number of cars needed to meet crash testing status. IIRC that's around 10 cars per year.

Building new cars from the mold is about as realistic as me starting a spec Omni professional racing class....or even a spec Consulier racing class for that matter. Spec T3 of course

From what a former employee ( fairly recent ) was saying, that stuff has been sitting so long the recaro seats are trash ( leaky container ), old race tires and stuff. You've got to figure that most of that stuff was deemed either unusable, undamageable, or unworthy of keeping inside.....just think of the junk we all keep in the shed out back...
I don't think Ian would actually remove stuff from the containers ( lazy scatter brain that can't even pick up the phone let alone pick through the containers ). There is or was a ton of Consulier stuff in the main warehouse labeled in bins unless it's been moved into the containers.

I think we all agree that the main issue with this deal is the Ian variable.

Just talked to Dan and asked him to look for a windshield.
He thinks there are a few not in perfect condition by any means but not cracked.
Thats a part I would keep in stock for the future for sure.
Also mentioned there are a few motors in the container ....no molds/jigs etc.
The car is a monocoque remember so there are no repairs ...!
Ian is to busy with Rossion to deal with any Consuliers issues or part requests.
The containers are very rusty so guess what all the stuff looks like inside.
We are in south Florida, not the perfect condition to store things outside.

Very Rusty containers = very rusty parts = worthless

What a shame :(

I thought I remember somebody saying that there were still molds around and that they were for sale??
