I registered this web site.
starting in January I'd like to start adding info...history, about the cars, etc.
maybe even a couple of photos of each car I can get owners to submit photos
and the last two digits of the vin. And a little about the car.

any input is welcome.

It will NOT have a forum, I will direct people to this site for that.

Anyone can start….send me two photos of their GTP, some info and last two digits of the car.
And name? Maybe people don't want there full name out there…maybe just the first name published.
Ideas?

Anyway, I'll start saving.

What kind of format will the site have? Maybe kinda like allpar ?
Home page with some pics and base info, then maybe links for History, Specs, and maybe a sub page for each car made with individual car history?

Ooooo I'm geekin out over here!!!! ( btw I work in IT ;) )

I was thinking it might be cool to have an events schedule on the site. For example if I were to be planning to take the Consulier to a track day event or a car show we could post it up.
Maybe to keep the owners in touch and/or to let visitors to the site know where they could go see one in person if there is an event in their area.
Not really sure what that would look like or how to implement that, but just thinking out loud.
Johnny, Will the site be interactive? like have "members" ? I'm asking that because we could input our own items into a web calendar object if we had logins.
I know there are a few places that offer online calendars for web pages.
One thing I learned really early about personal projects is that I wanted to build as much automation into it so I'm not spending huge amounts of time "managing" the site or application.

When I repainted it, it will not be a match of the faded looking pink on the car right now. I want it darker.

^^ Thanks Johnny. It's nice to have them displayed like that....

So I do see some consistency on the front wheel well design......somewhere between Steve's car #15 and your car #19 the design changed.

I'd be interested in seeing where the dash board change took place. But it doesn't look like there is any consistency at all there. Except for maybe NO TARGAS got the series 2 dash.

How many series 2 dash boards are out there? I know my car #45 and car #46 have them. I'm so confused, lol.

Johnny
05-29-2014, 06:10 PM
I do hope to get many cars on this. Maybe see some day which car had what first.
Like first wheel opening change
First 2 fan car
First dash change

Like this...early car because of round wheel opening, but two fans.
This is one of the cars waiting to go on the gallery section.

168glhs1986

^^^ I would disagree.

I would say its one of the early cars. Guessing right around 8-11 due to the fit and finish.

The early cars received ALL the attention as hopes of sales were high.

Once they realized sales were flat they tried to jump start with series 2 and when that didn't work the fit and finish suffered.

Have you seen my stock engine bay?

Compare my engine bay to the early cars engine bays. The early cars are clean / neat and tidy.

Mine looked like a birds nest.

Also compare early interiors to later interiors. They started out with tufted door panels and finished with molded plastic.

Could have also been some for weight savings but I digress.

Also for this particular car it has series 1 front wheel arches.

That #1 car being racecar 22 makes me think the first 21 cars never saw VINs or the streets. The math is almost right on to 100 cars if that is the case 82 VIN'd cars plus 21 or so race cars. Unless of course those 21 race cars were added in that 82 number already.

Did that number come from somebody was there all the way from the start to the finish of GTP production?

If that ebay ad has the vin right, there are two #8 cars.. one 1988 and one 1990.

There was at least one ( silver car ) at the shop that I saw that was a series 2 with the curved dash. I also know that Deryk's car ( red ) is a series 2

Seems like there were a few that were half way between like the targa cars that have the series 2 front wheel opening shape but have the flat dash. Who am I kidding? Every one of these are different so that theory might not hold up.

It's hard to say how many were made, maybe on 40 were ever for the street. There was certainly a pile of them at the mosler factory. I've found between 3-5 through my searches online that were/are privately owned that are separate from the sale we all got in on. Those plus, the wrecked ones, plus all of ours should be around 40. There are also the cars that were never completed full, which I know of 3-4. A buddy of mine has one of the original crash test cars. I think it would all come down to when and how they started counting.
