There is an oil restrictor that is pressed into the deck on the block. Apparently this is for +'86 up engines. Is this not needed on earlier engines, or would it still provide same benefit? I recently built an '85 2.2L TI and I did install a new restrictor there. I guess I'm just wondering why exactly Chrysler decided to start putting them in 2.2/2.5 engines after '86.

Nevermind, totally forgot I asked this a few months back:banghead:

Now if I can just find another one since I have yet another '85 block without it..

I could see the earlier ones wanting/needing full oil flow, just because of the slider cam and the oil squirters built into the cam caps, roller bearings need much less oil to function properly...

PS I really like the 9mm casing for a restrictor, I think I'll have to go that route, even replacing the existing ones upon rebuild, just for the novelty of it!
