Whittier invoice numbers?

Do the Whittier invoice roughly indicate build order?

My GLHS starts with 02-### and my Lancer 03-###, Does this indicate the model built? ie. '86 GLHS 01, '87 CSX 04, etc... ?

The first 2 digits correspond to the model, i.e. 86 Glhs = 01, 87 Glhs =02, 87 SL = 03, 87 Csx = 04, 88 Csx-t = 05, 89 Sdak = 06, and 89 Csx-vnt = 07.

The next three digits pretty much correspond to the ship to dealer date. So the lower the number, the earlier in the model year the vehicle was shipped to the selling dealer. However this is not always true as many vehicles in the vin lists have invoice numbers, but no ship date is listed. Sometimes a note on the listing may indicate the ship date, and "usually" that date falls out of sequence of the invoice numbers.

I didn't check all the lists for this fact, but the 86 GLHS invoice numbers start with 01-101 NOT 01-001. This is probably true of all the lists, but I didn't check.
