View Full Version : Is the T04E good for a 2.4?

I installed a T3/T04E 50 trim with a stage 2 turbine wheel for the little 'ol 8v motor. Well the 8v had its fun. Now it's time to get serious. So I'm curious if this turbo will be a combination on the 2.4?

Basically I plan to use a SlowBoy Racing exhaust manifold, stock head, and run only 20psi. If Rob and I can fab up a 3" swingvalve I'll use that. If not all I have is a 2.5".

Thanks guys,
-Bryan

too small.

Well not really. It will still make low 400whp... max boost will be around 20psi.

Thanks Frank and Kevin. I'm only aiming for 350whp for now.

Well not really. He didn't give enough detail on his turbo. It could be a .48 exhaust housing. Tho I am sure he has posted it a million times in other threads.

Dave-Bryan. I think you should spend your money in a posi. So maybe you'll stop blowing up transmissions with the peg leg burnouts like the one in your sig. If you can't dial in a 8v to run better then high 13's with a hybird turbo you damn sure aren't going to get a 16v hybird to run right even with Rob's help. You should just save up a big wad of cash and drop the car off at Rob's then maybe it will come back fast. Tell him to fix the intercooler mounting also because that thing is going to fall on the road and your going to peg leg burnout over it.

Kevin... the last time I blew up a tranny was over a year ago. My tranny is in great shape still.

Listen to me. I'm not going to waste money in the 8v. I could get it tuned right and run good. I've done it before, I can damn sure do it again. I cracked the cylinder head. Why would I spend money into the 8v just when I'm going to dump in a 16v???? That's insane to spend money on one thing when I'm going to spend it AGAIN on another.

I've gotten the car to run 13.7's on a stock turbo and intercooler. That's damn impressive. Even with a stock cylinder head. I can tune cars just fine.

Money is much better spent elsewhere.

My turbo is the usual style - .60 cold, .63 hot. Super 50 compressor wheel, Stage 2 turbine wheel. T04E series. 3" intake.

I have been thinking of using an external wastegate. Just weld the flapper door shut. Just an idea on that note.

PS: I love my big turbo. :)

hell it is much easier to weld to the cast swingvalve :eyebrows:

Right, I can see it now, why is my boost so low, why won't my boost go higher, I have a boost leak I can't find,

doh I mean the cast exhaust housing! Well I guess you could weld to the rod on top of the SV.

Why would you want to do it? Boost creep and such is easily managable when the car is setup properly.

That turbo should be good to well over 400hp. SRT-4 guys are making 450+ hp with 50-trim turbos.

Thanks Mike. Cindy reassured me I will be great! Now I need to get some 40's...
