Contemplating a turbo in my future possibly for my 451 BBM. Would the easiest method be to install a typical HP exhaust manifold upside down on the driver side/installing the turbo from here?
I am no expert on turbos, can someone kind of school me on everything needed in a budget 76mm turbo build I may be overlooking.
Looking at around 8.5-9:1 Compression.
5-8psi boost. Do I need an intercooler at this level?
I would switch to a Mopar 528 solid camshaft, as I could make up a majority of the power loss with the turbo. My camshaft is currently 272* dur @ .050, with a 106LSA (.590 solid). Head flow is 290/220 @ .600. 10.5:1CR. Victor Single Plane. Transmission is a 833 4-speed, DFX clutch. 4.10 Gear currently, would switch to 3.23. 30x12.5" ET STREETs on rear currently.
Main Parts:
This chinese turbo has nothing but good reviews on the turbo forums.. and is dirt cheap! Probably would use something like this (Ebay) ($265) (GT45 76MM)
Turbonetics (Craigslist) Wastegate ($180):
http://daytona.craigslist.org/pts/4057168453.html
Aeromotive or Holley HP 150 fuel pump
MP 528 solid camshaft (241* dur @ .050/112LSA) ($200 new).
Custom head gaskets to lower compression ($150?)
TiAL BOV (Ebay) ($225)
Mechanical fuel pump BOP ($15)
Aeromotive Boost Referenced regulator.
MSD Boost timing retard box (ebay-used)($150)
C-Body exhaust manifolds ($150 shipped)
Front mount intercooler (Ebay, used/new) ($150):
Cant see it costing more than this to modify my carb ($400).
Basic Tuning ($400) (Maybe could eliminate this cost by tuning with a friend that has a 800rwhp turbo fox/700rwhp procharged fox as well)
Odds-Ends-Fittings ($400?) (little things that just add up)
Turbo piping fabrication ($500-600?) (This could be hardly anything if all I need to do is fab a downpipe through the fenderwell)
Around $3000-$3200 total..
