Just received this email from tracktoysracing, the group that has been organizing the Cecil fall track rental we've been hitting the last few years. It's a very well run event, opportunity to get lots of passes in and the group we run with has been a lot of fun. See details below. Hope to see a load of turbo mopars there again this year!

Pat

Subject: 2013 ABM Nats at Cecil County Dragway

The Track Toys Racing group has once again rented out Cecil County Dragway in Northeast Maryland for a fun fast track rental to end the season the right way!! We will be running our usual relaxed test and tune style event with some good old fashioned grudge racing thrown in for good measure! Cecil is one of the fastest tracks in the country and the legendary prep and November air is not to be missed!! If you are looking for the perfect opportunity to set a new best ET in your car you will not find a more perfect time to do so!

The ABM Nats started in 2002 to remember Andrew "Krimpet" Bauer, a racer taken way too early from us at the age of 22. This will be the 12th ABM Nats and it will be just over 11 years since Krimpet redlit and left us way too early. Krimpet's beloved red 96 Cobra will be at the event as always. Even if you didn't have the privilege of knowing him please be respectful of those who attend the event to remember a friend and enjoy the event he loved.

The Date: November 9th 2013
The Time: Gates open at 8 am, racing from 9-4
The Place: Cecil County Dragway in Northeast MD

The cost will be the same as previous years.

If you are paying my check the amount for racing only is $50 made out to Bill Tumas. If you would like an Event T shirt the price will be $70 and if you would prefer an event hoodie the price will be $80. If you are ordering a Tshirt or Hoodie please include size with your check.
Checks should be sent to:

Bill Tumas
407 Marion Dr
Harrisburg PA 17112

Paypal address is tracktoysracing@gmail.com. Paypal price is $55 for entrance, $75 with a T shirt, and $85 with a hoodie. Please include sizing with your paypal payment.

We will be accepting payments at the gate if we are below the 200 car cutoff at $75 each. If we reach 200 cars we will not allow any gate payments. Most years the event sells out so prepay to guarantee your spot.

Host hotel will once again be the Comfort Suites in North East Maryland. The address is 1 Center Dr North East MD 21091. Their number is 410 -287 -7100. There will be a block of rooms available at a discounted price starting September 19th under Track Toys Racing.

As usual the profits from this event will be donated to charity in Andrew Bauer’s memory. Last year we donated over $2000 to charity and we hope to do even better this year! For 2013 we will be supporting Paws for Life, an animal rescue based out of Chesapeake City, MD whose mission is to rescue loving pet quality dogs from death row at area animal shelters.http://www.pawsforlife.org/

Thank you for supporting the Andrew Bauer Memorial Nats!

Sure...only potential issue is that this is the weekend before grm. If I am not done with the grm project, I won't make it. Very likely that will not be an issue though.

I'm going to try to make it but not sure yet if it will work out.
Also not sure if Slug will be any better than SDAC. Still have to try and get her tuned in. It really sucks not having anyone local as resource/assistance. :(
So I might just end up visiting/spectating.
I'm pretty sure I won't have MeanMini ready either. Still waiting on the rest of my parts. :(:(:(
But, who knows..

Cecil Nov w/ the Tracktoysracing ford guys is always a good time, basically the next best thing to when Cliff used to arrange them. I am 75/25% on this one --- have a new bigger cooler thats working great but am struggling with some torque steer and handling issues now.
Hoping to fix that and get in some cal tuning time over the next few weeks so I will see you guys down there.

You can try mine out, but no need to buy me lunch. Do you have long wheel studs in your car?

Thanks, I have the stock studs, so if it doesn't work, no biggy. Looking forward to see your car in person.

If you dont need spacers the stock studs may work. With these wheels on my car I need to run a 1/4" spacer and longer wheel studs.

Indeed. At least it will be sunny. Hopefully the track surface will be somewhat warm from the sunshine.

The track was good for the cold weather, Mike Wah broke into the 11's after a bunch of hot laps dropping his time each run. Mike also let me try his slicks and I went 13.47 @ 107 with 2.30 60', there was an Omni turbo with an auto that broke into the 10's, not sure if he is on this site, his name was Ben? on his back glass was a decal saying "when I grow up, I want to be a Viper" or something like that. Here are a few photos.

That's Dan Carson. Congrats to all! I nearly broke my foot at Judo so I couldn't make it, seems like I missed a good time again.

Its been 2 years since ive raced down the 1/4 mile track.

18 psi: 1st pass - broken axle due to driver error. Popped the clutch. :(

Big thanks to the Slowe Racing Track Support (SSTS) for swapping the axle and getting me back out there....

18 psi: 2nd pass i was gun shy. 2.6 ish ( lost time slip) and about 107 mph. Et was about 13.7 iirc

Lunch break and SSTS repaired the 2 step.

Lend slicks to Fishcleaner so he could get a feel for them. Mount slicks back on and hit the lanes at 2:45 pm.

Not much wait this time of day so i was able to get in 6 runs in 45 minutes ;)

Hot lapping each run and here is the breakdown of the last run:

2 second burnout.

Fully stage and engage launch control @ 5700 rpm. Boost builds to 27.6 psi in about 3 seconds. Release launch control button and let clutch slide out.

Rpm drops to 5300 and max boost launch (fun). Decent 60' time of 1.781. Rpm's climbing quickly and im bouncing off the rev limiter set at 7000 for about a second.

Shift into 2nd: Rpm drops to 4565 and boost drops to 13.1 psi. Rpms climbing and full boost again at 5830 rpm, rpms climb to 6930

Shift into 3rd: Rpm drop to 4540 and boost falls to 15 psi. Rpms climbing and full boost again at 5200 rpm, rpms climb to 6700

Shift into 4th: Rpm drop to 4870 and full boost at 5070

Run it out the backdoor (haha - drag week reference) at 6214 rpm.

Recap:

27.6 psi
96 octane
AFR from high 10's to low 11's

Results:

R/T: .456
60': 1.781
330': 5.013
1/8: 7.651
Mph: 92.89
1000': 9.956
1/4: 11.876
Mph: 117.63

Need to run 110 octane next time out then raise boost as needed
Raise rev limiter to 7500

Thanks to Slowe Speed Track Support and Justin Cronk for having all the tools and parts I didn't have.

Nice work Mike:clap: 168 is an axle eater eh, same one as at AutoX @ SDAC:confused:? Now that you have your 11 sec slip, stop drag racing that thing, get it to a track with some turns and race that thing properly:eyebrows: No, not a parking lot with cones:p Once you feel 150MPH down the strait you'll be hooked on Road Racing:evil: Going strait for 1300 feet hasn't been the same for me since:amen:

Thnx for the pics Fish, 2.3 short time on slicks, hmmm... If thats the same car I drove, it's faster than that;)

moparzrule
11-10-2013, 03:27 PM
The first time I ever ran with slicks I kept getting ~2.10 short times, then the guy that worked at the track yelled to me ''heat em' up more'' so I did....got 1.80's after that (couldn't get any better they were little 22'' MT's on a full weight 5 speed shadow). It's nice when people actually care instead of just make fun of you for not knowing how to do things properly. (just to clarify, this is not in an accusational tone, just stating a generalized fact).

I wish I could have been there, but my car isn't done yet. Chasing 11's in my shelby Z and I'll use N2O if I have too I hear it's a lot of fun lol.

Couple pictures.

Fun day, little chilly at times, seemed like a lot of traction for the weather. Almost saw a Mustang go over backwards, but cam down hard on the right front and the driver kept it out of the wall, great save!! Wish I was taking pictures then and not getting ready to run from the fence.
