I found these that I may purchase,
says he bought them in 2010.
What do you think they are worth? Just the tires, no rims.
I havent seen them yet, what should I look for?
These will be my first pair of slicks. So I know zip???

You can get those tires new for ~$175/ea + shipping. Just as a reference...

Thanks, that helps,
Would me offering 150 for them be fair???

I think 150$ is fair if they are in good shape. Used drag slicks sell a lot higher than other types of used competition tires. Dirt track or roadrace tires are sooo cheap used. Or free.

yes, but check them over closely. There are wear markers in the tread area, and check the sidewalls. if they were not stored right, you could be buying some bad tires and having a slick blowout/go flat is no good.... unless you really know the history of the tires, I would just buy new if you plan on using them often.

Ok I will check them over (wear marks and sidewalls) What am I looking for in the sidewalls cracks? or tires not stored right will have bends in them?. But I probably will not use them often, as I rarely get out to the track anymore.

yes, make sure the side walls look good, no creases or cracks.... also check the build date. he might have said 2010 but I wouldn't buy a tire more than 5 years old so check

Do drag slicks use the same four digit date code like road tires?

-Ya I got the code, they were made 28th week of 2009,
- Mt's webstie says that anything over 4 years old should be replaced. But I think for what I need them for they will be fine.

One other question that came to mind was how wide should the rim be for these slicks. I have 6 inch wide rims or are these to narrow? The website I think suggests 8 inch. So I am assuming they are too narrow anybody have any experience with this?
thanks
