Chris Greenhouse back on the podium at Ojibwe Forests Rally
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Aug. 26, 2013 - All Speed Innovations
Persistence paid off for Chris Greenhouse and the All Speed Innovations team at Ojibwe Forests Rally as they came away with second place in the 2WD National event.
Greenhouse’s clean, solid driving and lack of mistakes gave the team its first podium finish of the season and they are sitting in a very comfortable third place position in the championship points with only one round remaining in the RallyAmerica season. Chris had risen to a podium position in no fewer than four of the previous five rounds, only to have a string of bad luck and mechanical problems drop him out of contention.
"This was a true team effort," said Chris after the event. "We still had some recurring problems with axle failures, but the team easily repaired everything and we took no service time penalties. All Speed has made this car stronger and more reliable at every event this year."
The team employed the services of veteran Canadian co-driver Peter Watt for Ojibwe Forests. Chris and Peter got off to an early start with a second-fastest 2WD time on Stage 1 and kept a comfortable pace all weekend, even though Chris admitted that he needed points more than he needed to go absolutely flat out. "We had set our strategy to collect points and to not make any mistakes at Ojibwe, and Peter and I pretty much accomplished what we had set out to do. We suffered a few mechanical troubles late Friday, but were still able to complete the stages. We lost some time and slipped to third place, and decided on Saturday to simply hold position. Then we saw Andrew (Comrie-Picard) rolled on Stage 11, and we assessed that we could then play it very safe and hold on to second place easily if we stayed clean and didn't make a mistake."
Chris also scored one of his highest overall finishes to date, and finished the rally in seventh place overall against a field full of turbocharged and all-wheel drive cars.
The All Speed Innovations team will get a much-needed break between now and the final round of the RallyAmerica National Championship at Lake Superior Performance Rally in Houghton, Michigan in October. Lake Superior is known for its difficult weather conditions; rain and even snow are always a possibility.

I wanted to do the "intro" post i.e. "hi my name is Chris, I live in cinci and race rally, etc." but after last weekend, we had important news to broadcast. Here's a few pics from the last few seasons of rally:

Awesome work and neat video! Can't grasp how a fwd car can move on out like that on dirt w/out being spin-city... especially with one making decent power.

That suspension must be dialed in or you used one kick azz camera, I can't get that steady of a shot on paved roads.

Yes and yes
We made some changes to our setup before the event that really paid off, most notably higher and softer. Very glad that we did, this was the best handling setup we've had all year.
Camera is a Drift Innovation HD170 Stealth, I have it mounted to the rollcage using a Ram-Mount setup, and the roll bar mount has a small rubber pad under it to help damp some of the vibrations.
I'm not at home right now, when I get back I'll try to take some pics of my camera and mount for y'all.

I forgot to take pics of the camera roll bar mount, sorry guys.
How 'bout another onboard video? This one is a terrifying trip down a dark forest road with some killer dust.

Ok, I have some (kinda crappy) pics that I took of the camera mount:

They have a windshield mount too that is quite useful and quite strong, but I do not recommend that for competition use

I'm going to guess, and hopefully have someone who really knows correct me where I'm wrong (or expound upon my limited guess) that they are describing the upcoming road conditions and recommended speeds they should be taken at. There also seems to be other information being conveyed, such as possible water hazards and their location relative to the car as well as braking recommendations ("late", etc). The various turns seem to get a number rating, I can only assume that the higher numbers are more severe.
Now someone who really knows come along and "polish this turd" of an answer!:D

That's Ok, Mike, this kind of thing is new to most everyone on this board. The short version: turns for us our numbered with 6 being fastest and 1 being slowest. Numbers divisible by 10 are distances between instructions in yards (or meters internationally)
more detailed explanation:
http://www.jemba.se/notesUSA.htm
http://www.jemba.se/GradeUSA.jpg
a few side notes:
some prefer to use "descriptive notes" i.e. "flat right" "Fast right" "medium Right" etc
Irish and most British prefer to use notes that are reversed i.e. 1 is fastest and 6 is slowest
Australians have evolved a bit differently and prefer a 1-10 based system
I could flood the board with info on this, but that's the CliffNotes version

I definitely noticed watching some of the UK stuff that the numbers were reversed. Keep posting vids when you can! Great stuff!
