The front looks pretty swoopy.. the back looks like it could house a tank engine. Why the huge square azz.

That is a VW based car... that back end isn't as big as it looks..

Just the picture makes it look that way.. :D

Very fast lol? Unless that thing is around the weight of an omni or less i cant picture it as very fast. Its a carbd 2.2 lol not being naive but really. If its vw based is it maybe dohc?

Think aircooled VW. I think there were 2200cc engines in busses.

I think the bus engines were 2000cc...

But big bore and stroke kits are standard fair these days... the 1600cc engine I had on my rail had the big jugs and a stoker crank.. came out to 2165cc.. 2300-2400 is pretty doable these days on an Aircooled VW..

With the cam and heads... ect... mine was near 170hp....

It wasn't "unreliable" as all the big stuff stayed together, but required near constant tinkering.. and not "cheap" in the turbo mopar sense of the word..

Pound for pound it was a potent package.. but I have since bought an adapter kit to bolt a VNT setup on my rail....

And that thing should weigh less than an omni..... by at least a couple hundred lbs... or more..

Not any more... Not really ... Not crazy expensive... but certainly not "cheap"

Looking at 450+ for a pair of axles for my rail... needs common but not stock length and common but durable 930 CV joints... All this to use a bus transaxle with common 3x3 (three inches wider and longer wheelbase) trailing arms...
