I just got done getting everything together for my 47RH (A618) figured someone here might benefit from this in the future. These are found in the 94-95 Ram 2500 with the V10 and the Diesel. Also common for earlier Mopars to give them OD and Lockup for highway driving.
----
The Diesel and V10's have different VB's, Governers and Torque Converters. Diesel has a brass gov weight in the tail shaft and the V10 has an aluminum valve, Superior sells a steel replacement for the V10 gov that wont stick, there are no replacement for the diesel weights currently. Either VB can be used in a Gas or Diesel app with the right shift kit.
----
Upgrades good to 750hp RWHP (limited by the converter:
DTT Billet Flexplate DTTFLXPLT DPC Triple Disc Converter Most Triples are good for this HP level

Main Housing:
Teflon Pump Gears #TPG TCS Aermet Input 129600L-SP
Direct Drum:
Kevlar flex band A22022AK Suncoast Billet Direct Piston .840 618-DBP 6x .065 Frictions HE 22108A 2x .084 Frictions HE 22106B 3x .096 Frictions BW HE B22106A 6x .070 Steel 22126 4x .085 Steel 22126B 1x .090 Steel 22126X Forward Drum PP Beveled U22149

By buying a PP from a forward drum you can fit an extra friction, the Suncoast piston is also thinner and allows for an extra friction.

Forward Drum:
Suncoast Billet Forward Piston 618-FBP-2 New forward spring A22974B 4x .065 Friction HE 22108A 4x .070 Steel 22126 5 Pinion Steel Front Planet PATC 6 Pinion Aluminum Rear Planet 8PG
Stock friction count is typically used here, just make sure to use quality frictions/steels. Increased line pressure keeps this from burning up.

OD:
Sonnax OD Piston Retainer S22634B Ball Bearing D12271 Ball Bearing 222272E
Sonnax Retainer gives better fluid transfer to the OD Section, also provides an O-Ring to seal better
OD Brake:
6x .087 BW HE Waved Frictions 12100A 6x .068 Steels 12120 48RE Reaction plate U22141G
Using the RP from the 48RE allows for an extra friction to be used

OD Direct:
10x .063 Frictions 12102 9x .054 Steels 12122A
Dropping down the size of the steels allows one more friction

6 Pinion Steel OD Planet WIT Trans PATC OD Mega Spring 8S, I was told this is stock size for 47RE so that might be cheaper than PATC

Extra Stuff:
4L80E Center snap ring Used to fit an extra friction in the forward clutch of the 47RE only

Kits:
Bushing Kit A22030EC Thrust washer kit 222200E Torrington OD Bearings
Teflon Ring kit
Brass Filter
Transtec Overhaul Kit T22002E

Pan Off Stuff:
Transgo TFOD-Diesel Shift Kit TFOD-Diesel Sonnax 3-4 Spring S22936 Superior Lockup Cover A12741CA-4 Sonnax Accumulator 3A4 Sonnax Intermediate Servo 518RED16 Sonnax Reverse Servo 3-618 Billet 4.2 Lever 4LG Billet Strut 4BS Billet Anchor 4BA2 LPW Trans Pan 501-48RE
4.4 Lever also acceptable, 5.0 is not recommended as it can cause binding.

Shift Kit settings

Upgrades from thekit:
Sonnax 3-4 Shiftspring (Reccomended instead of the Trans-Go triple spring setup, stiffer 3-4 shift. This spring is commonly broken in stock transmissions and can be inspected without dropping the trans.)

Superior Lockupcover (Replaces the stock two-piece setup, recommended)

Page2 Step 1 Lockupfirmness at #48 .076 Single hole
Page 6 Step 4 #37.104
Page 7 Step 3 LockupPressure #48 .076

PR Adjustment-
4 turns is 140 psi
6 turns is 180psi
4.5 turns is160-165psi

Set at 6 turns, 185is the goal. 210+ Need rear clutchspring support

Over 200psi and you risk bending the bellville spring.

Ill format this better and clean it up later it did not paste well from OneNote.

Most information gathers from Cumminsforum.com, Competitiondiesel.com and local trans builders.

You need a press to get the big OD Spring apart, if you don't have one like me I just brought it into a local shop and they took it apart and put it back together for $20.

If you are putting down power or doing boosted launches you need a billet output also, another $7-800

Having an old intermediate shaft helps to line up the splines.

Your trans is a 47re which has an electronic governer, I think there are sensor upgrades to this as well. Check out the build threads by Big_Blue24 he has done a few really informative threads about the 47RE.

yea i got a press (30 ton) , as far as power not really, stock with an edge II programmer and fass lift pump (full kit)
I'll have to make my way over to the cummins board if i can remember my id/passwords..lol thanks for the info on that !!
272k on the stock auto is pretty darn good but my luck is running out. It's getting stuck in first and takes a while to shift out and of coarse i've got the od problem
but thats a bad ground i've traced near the alternator.. trans temps are averaging 140ish city 165-170 highway not towing :( so its slipping bad.

Your 47RE made it further than my 47RH, I only had 220k so it has paid its dues.

After talking to a different local trans builder he reccomended the Carbon Fiber band for a HP build and recommends the Kevlar band for more mild applications. He also recommended keeping the 3 spring 3-4 accumulator that comes with the TransGo TFOD-Diesel kit for shifting. I will try both and report back.

Here is a list specific to your 47RE:
Revmax: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/revmax-converters/452148-47re-stock-transmission-upgrade-list-sticky.html
DTT: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94-98-drivetrain-except-engine/452157-proper-upgrade-list-transmission.html

Depending on what is wrong with the trans I have read going to thicker fluid might get you buy until you have time to tear into it. You can mix Hydraulic fluid and Dex3 to get you by until you are ready.

thanks for those links !! after reading ALOT of bad threads about DTT not having very good customer service, I'm still deciding between revmax and maybe goerend too. I'm still looking for a converter that will do the job I need for a decent price. I'm not boost launching it or sled pulling so a triple disk billet converter is sooo overkill its not funny... I'm thinking MAYBE a single disk billet but a lower stall, and my planetaries should be steel being a 99 but we'll see when I get it out and opened up. I thought about trading mine in for maybe a 3rd gen but prices for a decent one are really high still so, I'll keep my 2.5 gen and just fix her up since it's been a really good truck and already came with a brand new vp44 in it cause the factory lift pump was bad. Thats why i put the fass lift pump kit in it with the sending unit and everything ( from Geno's garage ) and put the edge juice attitude II or some crap in it to monitor egt's fuel psi coming from the lift pump to the fuel filter, and trans temps and of coarse boost lol but i tell ya installing that thing took a while and was a pain! the tps wire it needs to sense was horrible to get to.. and damm that thing was pricey.. like $800 for that thing..but makes a world of difference when you drive it though !! wow i'm getting way of track here.. but 90% of the time I just go back and forth to work so mpg's are top priority the other 10% of the time I'll tow a car on a trailer or pull out a friend stuck somewhere.. it lives an easy life with me..besides an occasional posi shot.. I love hearing it spool without the silencer ring !

I'm thinking of building a spare 46RE for my '99 2500 gas truck. I was wondering what kind of monetary investment a list like that totaled out to be?
