Is there really a benefit to the one piece in stopping oil leaks over the early models? or does proper sealant just seems to do it! I see a lot more people jump the gun on the shelby 1 piece VC then the older versions..

The once piece gasket jobs are much nicer because you don't have to deal with RTV on the long edges. If you try to use the cork which came with the 4 piece kit it'll just leak generally. IMO that's what makes the one piece so much better.

The key to the 4 piece, is make it a 2 piece like Ma Mopar did. Throw away the cork. Ma didn't use it for a reason.

But I will agree, if you can find a newer one piece valve cover, it does seal better.

I've been using the same 1 piece valve cover gasket for 4 years, the valve cover been off at least 4 times.

I use the later model cast TBI aluminum valve cover with 2 ports in the back. It does wonder for PCV system.

The biggest bonus in the single piece is that when you do your retorque sequence after the head and bolts heat cycle, youre not throwing away silicone nd scraping it off the head to put the vc back on for a 2 minute job. Plus its a lot cleaner.

One piece all the way... If your a true TM cheapskate you can even clean and reuse the one piece gasket provided it is not hardened or tearing apart.
