okay well i had an autometer egt in my car i went wideband
and don't want to keep the probe in there as I'm pretty sure its gonna leak
what can i use to plug this up
its not threaded in its just held in by a band clamp

I would tap it 1/8 pipe and put a pipe plug in, otherwise hit it with a spot of weld, or braze it shut.

When they thread in, they are generally 1/16" NPT. I imagine the hole is around .250" or slightly larger in diameter, in which case, you could simply tap the hole and install a 1/16" steel or stainless plug and be done with it.

If it's on tubing, then a'welding we will go!

well its on my exhaust manifold and i want to plug it without taking it apart
so a tap might not work

Little bit of metal won't hurt, you put grease on the bit and tap and/or use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the chips.

Yep, a dip into some bearing grease (the sticky, tacky stuff), and almost all of the chips will come out with the tap, what's left will be stuck to the grease that's left in/on the hole, which can be removed with the use of a few Q-tips. If there is anything remaining after that, it's not going to be enough to do any damage.

Of course, if you don't mind removing the manifold to do the work, it would be easier, and you could be sure that no chips remain... but you'll probably be tempted to port the thing...:eyebrows:
