Here is the project http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?63794-How-light-can-I-get-an-89-shadow-2.5-turbo-5-speed-car-(New-project-log)&highlight=

Getting ready to run it on the 24th, hopefully a cool friday night, adding 26x8.5x14 slicks this time, light drag front tires on the rear instead of skinny street tires, msd box with two step and single fogger nozzle starting with a 50 shot, goal 10.99 @ altitude on the cheap, gonna try to take some more weight out of it anywhere I can.

Good luck! If it's a low 11, bring it to SDAC where we will be much closer to sea level :)

Do you have a solid front suspension or is the fender going to rub the slicks a bit on decel?

Gonna run it on friday night the 24th, front it pretty stiff, drove it about 20 miles on the street with these on with minimal rub

Did you need spacers to fit those tires?

MILKCARTON
05-16-2013, 12:48 PM
This set of centerlines need an 1/8" spacer, the wing is off of an 87 Shelby Lancer, R/T spoilers are straight, these has a slight curve to match the back of a Shadow pretty good.

Gonna do some surgery today on a pair of fenders, gonna try to raise the whole wheel opening up an 1 1/2 to 2 inches

Man I don't know, I would think those slicks will grow enough to rub, that's close!

Dude that was BADASS. Really good vid and good race too. Looks like you're having fun with this thing! Making me want to drop that 'small 50 trim' i just got into my 2300lb Aries...

And the non turbo cars look REALLY lazy in that vid.. everything n/a and under 600hp looked slow..

Ask anyone on here, cars run exactly the same at altitude as they do at sea level!!!!!! ;-)

I rolled a new head gasket in it today, it was blown into the coolant passage, on both runs the temp gage was pegged at the end

Awesome video!! :) I'm hoping to have a similar car this summer! My old daily driver, my CSX-T has terminal rust so I'm gonna lighten it up a ton! And then tune it! It already has a FMIC, Holset HE341, bigger custom intake, and soon to be a 3" CAI. So with it hopefully weighing less than 2,400lbs soon and 25psi or more if needed! ;) I'll be running 11's also!! :)

Again, that's an awesome sleeper and fun race car!! haha.

Of course. :P

Turbo cars arent badly hampered by altitude unless it pushes your compressor into a bad part of the map. If you're running a bigger turbo and not even close to maxing it out, it wont hurt much at all. Supercharged cars are just as effected as naturally aspirated cars because their boost control is in the pulley ratios.. they cant just spin faster to make up for thin air like a turbo will.

I wanted to, just knew the hg was hurt, rolled a new one in it and some 830cc injectors this time, sounds good just gonna start with 45 or so fuel pressure and work on it from there, oh yea put a rail mounted afpr on it now also

And the correction factor for n/a cars (spray or not) is 20% on the dyno at that altitude. Positive displacement blowers have a real rough time at altitude but centrifugal superchargers would be easy to keep on par with turbo cars with smaller pulley. The answer for roots/screw is probably larger blower which will also eat more power.

Moar boost, crank FP to 58 and run some corn! ;)
