Didn't realize the hood vent was going to interfere with the two piece intake. Had to remove the lower part of the vent, which leaves just the grate. I don't know if I really like the idea of the exposure to weather.
What have some of you done to alleviate this? Just bolt a piece of sheetmetal under the vent, thus rendering it useless?

That's what I did.

I just left it wide open was fine for over a year of driving in Canada with snow :), and besides the vent will increase in function by having that gate cutout, but now the car may steam a bit more during the rain with water falling in. But you'll also see ALOT more heat lines coming out of the hood when you're at a stop light
Shelby had to do the same thing with the GLHS cars. He fabbed a small plate to install under the opening, but MANY people remove this plate to help get some heat out of the engine.

I cut legs shorter and welded it back on.
