I just picked this up and I hate to part it and crush it but i dont need it. I would really love to see someone save it . It has a colorado assigned vin(but no title) and the original vin is only six numbers 901380 never saw this before, any info on this car would be appreciated, and if you want it pm me, 2.2 turbo I , 525 trans(must have welded diff or something both wheels turn the same)
motor sounds really good, car is pretty much rust free, but well used, pretty decent cage in it.

Thanks for sharing those pics. That looks like it would be a pretty sweet project for someone. Especially if someone had some info on it.

Yea, i think so too, i believe this car could have some history to it, big skid plate and all brake and fuel lines run inside the car, fuel lines are all braided lines. The vin numbers are weird, maybe some kind of factory car?

With that kind of effort I would think there should have been some solid factory backing behind it at the least.

Also there is another weird thing, wires that go into the rear brake backing plates then run forward to something that used to be mounted where the glove box was, ideas?

Probably speed sensors for a distance tracking thing. Front ones would be inaccurate on a rally stage due to tire spin..

It fired right up dumping gas into tb, cant get fuel rail to pressurize, I hear the fuel pump or relay cycle but....kinda hard by myself to troubleshoot, brakes and e brake all work and when it was running tried all of the gears. This car has all of the ground effects and the matching pass seat with it. It also has an oil cooler that goes behind the oil filter, and direct connection oil temp gage and boost gage. I would really like for someone to get this that is into it or this type of car.....I couldnt find any rust other than surface on the floorboards or frame railshttp://realautosport.com/pics/CMC/Crawford.jpg

I had a guy give me a caged omni GLH that was turbo converted and had been used as a rally car, but the 2nd time i tried it to tow it somewhere the rear axle fell out of the body due to rust, so i parted it out. :( Yours looks like it's ultimately in much better shape!

There was a DC part back when that had speed sensors on the wheels like those G-tech pro deals or whatever they were called a couple of years ago. They were pretty cool looking really.

I really wonder if it isn't some sort of body in white car just for racing from the factory.especially with that Simple 6 digit vin number

i was talking with rapidtransit tonight and we had a guy that was an instructor at our last school trip that was an engineer at chrysler back thru the 80's.going to see if we can get in contact with him and see if he knows anything.

Is there a tag where the fender tag would normally be that just has the 6 digit ID number stamped into it? I've seen a rampage the same way, it only had a 6 digit ID number and no VIN. Pretty sure it was a pre-production car.

I would guess the car was pulled off the line body-in-white to be rally prepped.

If I had the additional scratch it would make a good donor for my Rampage turbo swap. Tax man beat me up too much:(

Seems that a lot of people in the day ran shelby chargers. I just looked at the 85 event and saw 3 alone.

there was a guy that came into my shop 1 day, saw my charger parked on the side (blown tranny), asked a little about it. he told me that he was the creator of a synthetic oil line called hps, you can see it on the fender (or door) of the daytona, letter spacing like

H P
S

he had an old panflit he gave me with that charger sliding into a turn at pikes peak, throwing up some dust, he said that "his" oil is what made the difference between the cars not loosing power 5 minutes into the race because it didnt break down like the other competitors oil. some how he lost funding or contracts and couldnt produce his oil past 88 or something, but it was cool to talk to him and getting a panflit :-)

If you post something up on special stage those guys should know the history of the car. The sensor on the rear wheel is for a rally odometer. It is used for precise navigation.

Not my car :-( but on further inspection of the pamflit, it looks like the charger in it has the number 6 on it not 10, but it looks like a silver with blue car, and yours looks like silver with blue but a blue with silver door ans nose, so they may have been combined at some point?

Il take pics of the pamflit and send it to someone if they want to post it...

someone buy this thing, 600 without gages and steering wheel or 700 complete

why don't you put it in the "For Sale" section, more people with $$ looking to buy will see it there, I have seen this thread but never clicked on it (until now) because it wasn't in the for sale section. It couldn't hurt to try at least.
It would be cool to see someone use it and have some fun with that !

+1 to that, same thing with me... Fortunately for the wife, we don't live on a 1/2 acre and closer to you CO, or I'd be owning that thing! Heck, paint aside, it's in better shape than my GLHS!

Bill Lambros just called me and he thinks the driver owner? was John Crawford and Shepard. He said the 4 digit were prototypes and Direct Connection sponsored the cars. Bill still has his car from way back when.
