Hello,
I must change my daily driver car and was thinking buying a PT cruiser with a 2.4L turbo engine with the idea of using it later in my 89 Shadow.
I live in france and the only chrysler 2.4L engines are found on the Voyager (NA engines) with a lot of kilometers (200 000km to 300 000 km) and PT cruiser (NA and turbo).
So I would like to know what is involved to :
1/ put a 2.4L a 16V head in the 2.5L engine
2/ put a 2.4L NA engine (3/ put a 2.4L turbo engine (change the turbo
1/ requires : timing belts, sprockets, water noses, intake and exhaust manifolds, ... ?
You keep the stock trans and harness.
2/ and 3/ requires : rods, pistons, turbo (bigger ?), intake and exhaust manifolds, new engine supports, ... ?
Can you keep the stock trans ?
Do you need a new engine harness or you can use the old but with some modifications (distributor) ?
What is the easiest way ?
What engine will support the most HP ?
If swaping a SRT4 engines require a few mods I will buy a PT cruiser to use it later in my Shadow.
Is there a real advantage of an 2.4L swap vs a 2.2 or 2.5L engine with a custom intake, big 8V head and an hexhaust header, which I think will be cheaper ?
