Shifter bushing

How can I get this bushing off without screwing it up I can't get it to slip off at all am I doing something wrong or am I just dumb?

If you can find one, they make a small jaw puller inteanded for battery terminals. Just an idea; I've never tried to remove the booger ones since I put them in.

Slotted screw driver and lots of patience! Broke the plastic end off the factory cable and that was an expensive oops.

Very easy, hair dryer or hot air gun, get them warm and with some careful prying, they'll come right off.
