I need your guys help with this one I have part of it figured out thanks to another forum member.I am missing the shelby engine serial number plate from under the hood of my car, I have found a guy local to me that can make me a new plate almost identical to the oem plate. but here is my problem I dont know what letters/numbers should be on my plate. If I could get some of you guys to list the last 8 digits of your vin, your car number and the letters/numbers that are on your engine serial number plate I could.probably figure this whole thing out. I only want info on 1987 csx please! or maybe someone on here knows already how to do this so I will post my info. last 8 vin# HN504142. car#18. Here is what I found out from the other forum member and it seems to be true, the last 3 or 4 numbers stamped onto our serial number plates were made like this. if your car is a 1987 and your car is # 52 then the last 3 numbers stamped on your plate will be 935, 1987-52=1935. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shawn

Shawn,

I just checked my 87 CSX, and that formula [(1987 - car #) then take the 3 right digits] gives a number that matches the engine serial # plate on my car.

I have seen pics on the internet of 3 different cars engine serial # plates and they all read HP42213_ _ _. why they are all the same except for the last 3 #'s( those 3 last #'s being 1987 - the car #) I dont know. thats what I am trying to figure out. im wondering if the last 8 of the vin # has anything to do with the engine serial #?? cause my last 8 are HN504142. so where are the first 7 letters/numbers on the other peoples engine serial # plate coming from?
