Hit a deer with the '89 CSX. :( I'm surprised it hasn't happened before. The insurance adjuster just left, and at least I didn't have to educate him on the car first; he worked in a Dodge body shop in the 80's! Damage to the fenders, hood, bumper and dam, headlights, and grill. The grill insert is salvageable, I think, with only a mounting tab or something broken. Lucky there! Oh, and I flat-spotted the tires (almost new Eagle GT) when I slammed on the brakes.

I already have a good bumper, brackets, and inner cover. If I get a new Kaminari front air dam, any tips on installing it? Their site says they have them, but that some modification is needed for a CSX. Anybody know what has to be done?

While the grill insert can be saved, is it possible to find the other piece, the one that runs under the grill and headlights? What is that called? The header? Is it found on any other Shadow?

Sorry th hear that, Dave. Good luck with the repairs!

I'd assume the header panel would be a common part to other P bodies.

Ouch!

Tell then NADA values, but you know that...

ALSO tell them you want a rental CSX-T #321 to drive while it is down :)

IIR, headlamp suurround same as 89+ Sundance (Shadow has molded in grill, Plymouth seperate?)

did you tell them the deer was suicidal?

Clearly she was. I mean, I'm the only car for at least a mile in either direction. What else makes a deer think, "Right now seems like a great time to walk across the road"?

Bad luck :( Hope the repairs go smooth.

I have a suspicion that some large predators may be crafty enough to flush deer into traffic... but did you ever hear my tale of when I was out brake testing the Voyager one day, checked my mirrors were clear and nailed the brakes, pulled up with a screech and a couple of feet ahed of the nose, a deer runs out, stops, gives me a "Damn, mistimed that one" look and runs back into the bush :D

That sucks to hear. Maybe you can get together with this lady and do something about these deer crossing the road.

Sorry to hear that. I'm always worried about hitting deer around these parts. Fortunately I haven't hit one yet, but I know my time is coming.

This is why I keep my deep freeze stocked low, the moment I fill it up, BLAM!!! :D

Gotta know how to make Murphy's Law work for you.

Someone needs to teach them to look both ways.

Tim Bedore (comedian) talks about the great animal conspiracy.....this is one more thing that proves his point.

Sorry to hear Dave.

A while ago CSX-T 321 was found in a junkyard in MN...hopefully someone was able to save it.

Does anybody know what the status of that is? If it's still there, I might be able to get it now.

Indeed. 2006. The SRT got a CF hood then, and this time the CSX is getting fixed up, so I guess it's not all bad. Just expensive! :-/

Okay, now I'm in desperate need of one of those Sundance grill header panels in order to finish this. No luck finding anything but Shadow ones so far. The Sundance one is different, with the little "dip" in the lower center part.

Never mind, found one! Getting excited to see how this turns out.

That sucks about hitting a deer in your CSX. :(

Too bad you aren't local. I have a NOS 89-90 hood sitting my garage that I need to sell. I'd consider shipping it, but I have zero clue how I could.

The hood wasn't that badly damaged, and it's already fixed. They'll be shooting the paint next week!

"AJAKESKI" had a great thread on adapting the newer-style Kaminari air dam ( http://www.kaminari.com/node/787 ) to mount on the '89 CSX cars. Unfortunately it's missing the pictures now, but maybe he still has them that he could repost or send you:

Car should be done this week. We've cemented on bolts where the studs were on the original air dam. I hope that will work well. Seems like it should.

Back on the road, and looking better than ever! Just picked it up from the body shop. Looks like a different car, eh, Alan?

Are there any good options for mounting a front license plate that don't require (visible) holes to be drilled?

I just keep the front plate in my car and risk the ticket. There is a kid in the HS with a BMW who hasn't been pulled over for it yet. If he can make it, how can I not?

Completely agree. I refuse to put holes on my Silverado SS front bumper. My front plate sits on my dash.

Your CSX turned out great, looks really nice!

About the only thing you could do for the front plate is either have some sort of rod protrude through the lower opening, or "wrap" something around the bottom of the cover.

Hardly looks like the same car I saw 5 years ago, who knew the deer hunting was gonna be so good for the paint and body:lol:? Sigh, my VNT's paint is getting 'chalky' a couple projects ahead of restoring the exterior still:(

Thanks. Far from perfect, but 1000% better than when I bought it. Excited to have it nice for SDAC!

Didn't see a GLHS either in that post, but found this one in CA.

ALMOST want to save this one, just because he's talking about donating it, which I can only imagine at that point it will go to the scrapper.

Dave...just saw this post about your deer accident. Glad you and the car made it through OK..
Re-work on the CSX looks great...I'm glad it worked out that way instead of the other way..

So...adding GLHS's to the 321 pool?? ;)
