Well, considering I wasn't even second last year the competition is obviously getting stiff. The next stage in my build is going to cost some $$ and take me some time so I have my doubts I'll be driving it by that time or possibly even all of this coming year. But don't worry, I'll still smack talk my heart out and eat a well balanced meal every morning. :D

That would be sweet! I don't know that my car will ever be "driving" to SDAC again but you are always welcome in the new comfier air conditioned leather seat. There is a good chance I will be flying this year and I've thought about making it a drive one year, fly the next event. Driving usually turns it into a north of $1000 trip with the price of fuel. Flying on aeroplan miles is $150. Regardless it looks like there are a few more westerners that have now become addicted to SDAC so you still always have a room at my place if you want to make it a haul. :thumb:

While the details are still being worked out, I'm officially throwing out the welcome mat for the Pre-SDAC Party at my new place on the North Side, a.k.a. The Stately Fleck Mopar Manor. Three acres of glorious Mopar heaven (to me anyway!) We can do a cook out, unofficial meet and greet (aka Alan gets drunk.), and any showing off vehicles and tinkering that needs to be addressed. BYOB. I will try to get more of my Turbo Mopar fleet running but they should all be in attendance! :amen:

I have informed Sdac over a month ago so if they dont want to officially join in, I'm a member of the BMW club so I'll track regardless. I'm sure non club members could sign up as well just not as early. This is all assuming my car holds up to the abuse I'm going to bestow on it in the spring.

JT described it as just east of the city. If 38 miles is "just east" then maybe it will be held there. Whatever city it's in I'm sure it's gonna be a great time. I do plan on taking the trip to Putnam regardless of the distance from SDAC hotel. It's gonna be fun!

I'm always interested. I did a similar thing when we had SDAC in Cinci. Do you know if this club is SCCA sanctioned? The auto-x in Cinci was pretty sketchy because the course actually went through a parking lot with cars in it and was right against curbs and phone poles!

Not me, thanks to the Hoosier guys for finind the venues! Mike mentioned Putnam. We won't be able to have our own road course day but will get details for those who may.

Yes, plan is the typical schedule starting with check-in Saturday and Car Show Sunday... then after that, its all fluid. Waiting for drag strip to call me back...

I confirmed with the track and the bmw club in confirmed. For ome reason its not listed on motorsportreg yet.

Im a bmw club member so i will be attending Saturday for sure. Im pretty sure Spiro will be doing the same.

I wouldnt even bother with asking for an sdac invite because they may say no. Just sign up and run in Novice class. @ $250 a pop we may not have more than 10 cars anyway.

I confirmed with the track and the bmw club in confirmed. For ome reason its not listed on motorsportreg yet.

Im a bmw club member so i will be attending Saturday for sure. Im pretty sure Spiro will be doing the same.

I wouldnt even bother with asking for an sdac invite because they may say no. Just sign up and run in Novice class. @ $250 a pop we may not have more than 10 cars anyway.

Other than registration Saturday evening, we do not (currently) have plans for a Saturday daytime event. SDAC members are all about motorsports and since we unfortunately (typically) cannot afford our own track day, we appreciate the fact that other clubs would let our folks participate for those that woudl like to. :thumb:

Good question. If 1 hr 45 min drive like mentioned here i may stay close to track on Friday. Since they have a track day for advanced and instructors they may have a tech on friday as well. If not probably the usual 7am tech and start tracking @ 9am.

Ummmm....this will be like the good old days when gas was cheap enough for me to drive round trip from Kokomo, IN to Milan and back, but without the time involved...not like lately where I found a cheap hotel to hang out at. My house in Fishers, IN is 1 hr from the show in the park, then another hr from here to the drag strip. Both of those round trips will be about $32 each in gas! WOW...am I cheap! I will be drag racing at the first United Manual Transmission Racers series points event at Edgewater near Cincy. Monday I will be doing my job of chauffeuring, but have arranged to be off to go drag racing at Muncie Tuesday...sorry guys. As far as my job...this better money wise than me guy lost his license with a dui, so I pick him up, drive him to work then I come home. I then go pick him up, take him home, and go home myself. Only 100.7 miles per day with a good amount of profit after I pay for fuel/oil changes. The 95 Neon SOHC that I drag in the UMTR and use to transport him was getting a dark great 31-34 mpg in the winter and a great 36-40 mpg now that I have the tires aired up to 41 psi for no snow weather...which is actually the same air pressure as when I drag race it!

The bad news is that Yuengling is not sold in Indiana. The good news is that it IS sold in Ohio, and according to Yuengling's Beer Finder, there are a few stores that carry it right over the border in New Paris Ohio, about 35 miles away from the host hotel.

Interesting the PT is listed as a "sports van". Funny story about that. When they designed it, the PT cruiser was actually categorized as a "truck" for CAFE requirements (similar to Iacocca's strategy for minivans). At the time the "truck" requirements were defined as stuff like:
-GVWR
-open cargo area (think pickup)
-ground clearance
-interior cargo area

and cargo area pushed it into a "truck" category for CAFE :)

For "Top Van" we are thinking more vans....

If it's like in years past you'll just have to register and pay for the autocross portion of it. If you're going to be there for two days then as you can see you'd have to register for the whole event. One year we could only do the car show so we only paid the car show fee.

No. If you only want to come to SDAC-23 for the drag racing day to race your car, you only need to pay the drag racing fee for that day. However, you will not get a goody bag or any of the other things that are included for the full registration fee. Same thing applies for the car show. If you only want to enter the car show, you will pay the fee at the show for entry ($10) and that is all. But if you come to SDAC-23 and are there for a couple or all days, just hanging out and only enter one event, you are expected to pay the full registration fee, plus any applicable event fee. Failure to do so may have you banned from future events.

Adding the second lock won't help given that you always keep it propped open for him.

I think I am just gonna ride along. It will probably never be an issue but, it does still have the original water pump and timing belt. I know it only has 54k miles on it, but the age concerns me.
