the car is an 86 horizon that had the 2.2 carb'd engine. i'm putting in a 2.5 turbo out of a shadow. its got a custom manifold but it doesnt really stick out much further than the stock cast piece. the pump is the stock metal reservoir unit.

here are the pics....it looks really close.....ill wrap it with something and the manifold is thermal coated. will i be ok?

That's a bit close, and closer than stock. I'd put some type of barrier or blanket on the powersteering pump or wrap that portion of the header.

A ZF pump has attachment locations for a heat shield.

I would just put something on the saginaw pump to shield it. By the time you swap the pumps you could have been done shielding the one that's in there.

Swapping pumps is a cake walk, the ZF pump has a spot for a heat shield to be attached too, and it also is farther away from the exhaust already. The 16v Masi used the ZF pump for these reasons. Even came with a factory heat shield.

wouldnt i have to swap all the lines too? arent they different?

I Thought they used different lines?

This is what I am saying, or just wrap that small section of header.

Yep you need to swap the pressure line.

My header is simular and seams to be fine. I did wrap the header, the wrap does work.
