View Full Version : Bearing cap 1/2 cover?

Do I really need this cover plate that bolts onto bearing caps 1 and 2 on the cam shaft? Don't really know what it's for.

It keeps oil from flying out the oil cap hole if you remove it with the engine running. Have you ever run your engine with the valve cover off to see the oil moving around?

If it's going under a turbo valve cover, it keeps oil from splashing out of the oil cap when the engine is running and the oil fill cap is removed. Also, it probably keeps cams safe from funnels if you run the engine with a funnel in there. Not totally required if you have a turbo valve cover.

I would say it also helps to prevent leaks while running, as the caps sometime's don't seal 100%.
