Is there a specific year/years these are for? I'm assuming since they're on your 88 they'll work on a 89?

These fit 1987-1990.

May fit later models, but I won't know for sure until I get a set mouldings from a 1991 or newer car.

err I guess 1992 P body is too new. 2 door also. Were there no 4 doors in the early models?

I've seen 4 door '87-'88 models. Only in junk yards though.

Will they fit a '91 Shadow Convertible?

I don't know, I don't have one to look at.
If you can email me some detailed photos and maybe a few measurements, I will look into it.
I would need the length of the sweep.
The height of the part attached to the back of the belt moulding.
And a good close photo of the profile. Best taken from the rear edge of the door.
You can email it all to:

I was wondering how close these are to a factory set? I mean I know they will be night and day better than whats on mine now......

Nice work! I did a similar resto on my 87 CSX scrapers and for $100 to have someone else do it would have been well worth it...LOL!

I've messed around with quite a few p-body scrapers over the years (trying to find best ways to restore them) so I have a little knowledge and can tell you without a doubt the convertible scrapers are completely different than all others. There's nothing similar and the same technique that's being used for the 87-90 would not work for the convertible. I have a NOS set still in plastic from Mopar and can post some detailed pics if anyone is interested in trying to duplicate them.

Also, last I checked, 91-94 two door coupe full trim/scrapers were still available NOS from Mopar (think they were like $65 last time I bought them a year or two ago).

I have the trim off the car, and I pretty much understand the instructions, I think. A Web page with higher-quality versions of the pictures from the instructions would be good. Could you give us some tips on filling the cracks in the parts that remain, especially the little piece under the mirror? It's about to fall off of mine. Is the glue from the kit adequate for that little piece, or do you think I should use something else?

ajakeski
02-06-2013, 07:05 PM
I can email you a PDF of the instructions.
I used body filler to fill the cracks and auto body primer to finish it.
Then it was painted with SEM Trim Black paint.
DO NOT use the supplied glue to fill the cracks. That is for attaching the sweep along with the to its.
Send me your email address and I'll send you the instructions.

Sorry, I didn't mean use the glue to fill the cracks. I wondered if it is appropriate to glue that plastic piece under the mirror back onto the metal part of the trim? I'll get in touch with you by email.

ajakeski
02-06-2013, 07:44 PM
I misunderstood, sorry. You can use the supplied glue for that, but it's really meant to bond to rubber.
2 part epoxy would be better. Something like permatex 5 minute epoxy. That piece was originally held on by two small tabs that were melted over at the factory.

Can you not just post the instructions in this thread as an attachment or is it too large? I'd like an electronic copy of the instructions as well.

+1 u was going to ask the same thing. The pictures on mine are hard to see due to the copy quality. Good enough to get it done. But i would like to see the details too.

Yep, the sweeps don't show well in original photos to start with. I'm working on coming up with something better.
If you want the PDF, PM me your email address.

Now that I've actually done the restoration of the sweeps using the kit, I can say that the instructions are very clear. I'm not sure you really need pictures to understand and do it. With the trim in front of you, it's easy to follow the instructions, and the result is wonderful. The only part that's at all tricky is getting the rivets placed high enough to clear the edge of the door. I'm not entirely sure I did place mine high enough, but it will be easy enough to drill them out and put some new ones higher if necessary. I'll know when the body shop finishes the paint next week. Thanks again for making these available!

ajakeski
02-28-2013, 02:04 PM
If you go as high with the rivets as the factory staples, you should be OK. I did my first one a bit low, but it didn't affect the clearance.

Put my set on my car last weekend, it went pretty well, removing the rubber bump stop inside at the bottom of the door allowed the window to travel lower making accessing the sweep screws easier. I had to grind a touch on the top of the door to allow clearance to the new rivets even with them at the highest point. Anyways here's a couple pics, overall i'm happy with it, at least no more water will be getting down into the door if i get caught in the rain. Thanks again.
