I took my stock 99 neon sedan to autocross yesterday and ran G-stock. Only "Mods" are Koni adjustable struts, rear sway bar, and some old circle track tires on pizza wheels.

Tires on the front are Dunlop Direzza Z1 star spec. Rears are Yokohama S-drive. Konis set to 1 full turn from soft in front, same in rear.

Took 1st place by .3 seconds beating out my co-workers cobalt SS and over a second faster than a buddies Subaru 2.5rs.

I can still legally install some ACR springs, and put on my Adco rear sway. One non-stock sway bar addition is allowed. Any strut/spring combo is allowed that came stock on same model/same year car.

Thanks!
I have done it about 6 times this year in my SRT swapped 1st gen, and usually place about the middle of the class. It was nice driving a car with lower power and being able to concetrate on the cornering.

Nice. I think I am going with those dunlops for my omni. I love my neon but it's so damn rotted out underneath. It's really hard to find a clean dohc 5 speed car. Or I should say, a clean dohc 5 speed car with a running issue so I can get it cheap .

Your right, they are getting hard to find. Both of mine are really clean. My srt-swapped coupe has zero rust. The sedan does not have much if any at all, just a little bubbling under the front fender and sunroof pinch weld.

All of the 98+ neons I have seen have factory undercoating and seem to be pretty solid.

Mine is great on the outside aside from a small bubble near the gas cap. Underneath it's downright scary.

Autocross is a blast! I run with my 3.0L/A543 Spirit R/T and it handles great. Little tire spin issue :eyebrows: but that can be fixed with something called tires.

I picked up a "non-running" '95 Plymouth ACR Coupe a while back in OHIO with zero rust (minus a few stone chips) for $600. Absolutely amazing lol. Had it towed home and running in about 20 minutes... bad coil pack. However it had probably the worst knock I've ever heard once warmed up. Therefore it has become the base for my new project. :p

Cool, I bought this one with a rod knock. Replaced the engine with another from the yard for $90.
