Anybody have good luck finding a proper TII radiator at a parts store? My omni needs some extra cooling.
I'd rather have a new one...

In my extensive experience it's impossible. That's why Chris is having his made. You may want to check if he has any in stock. Otherwise you'll need to recore yours.

How do you know it's a lack of rad causing the problem? Is yours in poor condition? I've found that proper ducting and shrouding will get a TII rad behind a large FMIC to cool an L body in 90+ degree temps.

I have a stock replacement omni radiator from a parts store. With a aftermarket fan set to come on at 150. With a 180 tstat. All proper ducts and shrouds in place it will stay cool most of the time but if I'm hard on it or it's hot out it will get up to 210-220 and take a while to come back down.

Do you have a shroud for the fan?

How big is the parts store fan? How much does it flow? I had some troubles with one until I upgraded to a flex-a-lite fan. I can keep the car as cool as I want now. I should have gone with that one from the get go.

Not sure the brand name but it's a sblade design and it's almost the size of the rad it self.

Most aftermarket fan doesn't flow as well as an OEM fan from an Volvo 940/960. You'd only want one form 940/960 because it comes with a great shroud.

I just put a Volvo fan to replace the stock dodge fan in the CSX, and all the cooling problem went away. We're talking about a car that operates in ambient temperature of 110 - 120F with A/C running.

210* isn't hot it's normal operating temperature and 220* isn't that bad. The factory fan turn on temp is 212* under 30 mph and 222ish* at speeds over 45. My Dad's '85 wagon with a TU T-II radiator, oil cooler, hugh Volvo fan gets up to 230* on this one section of highway on his way home from my shop that he panics about but I tell him not to worry about it. I've had his 2.2 engine up to 240* pulling steep grades when it was in my mini-van. If you want better cooling I'd get a better fan or possibly and air to oil oil cooler.

To answer your question, Modine once upon a time did make a replacement radiator for the 87-89 TII G/J bodies. Long gone though I'm afraid.
