I have searched for an answer on this topic but have not found thr answer.

I'am buy'n a F4 cam and was wondering if the Pt lifters will work, i have the lifters shimmed up already. I was gonna buy a regrind cam but it looks like i will need to buy a new billet F4.

Here is a pic of the shims i have under my lifters.

I was reading up on this and did find if you shim the lifter up too much the lifter will sit too high and loose oil pressure. So will i need a new billet to use the shimed Pt lifters?

Thanks Brian

I wouldnt see why not. What other lifter would you use? There's pt lifters in my 85 glht head with a Taft stage 2 cam. They work just fine together.

I don't think it will work, the base circle is cut too much and you'll need more shims, so your stuck getting the billet version if you want to keep the F4 cam. The S2 just barely works, the S3, nope.

you have to have a billet cam to use the Pt lifters as the base circle is to small or you will have to run lash caps to run a regrind

If your not interested in having the right follower angle or better and your hell bent on running a regrind. Why doesn't anyone sleave the lifter bores like a V8? A 1/16" higher than the rail will net 1/8" more seal surface at the top.

I will be using a new billet, not a regrind.
