I just got my engine together and in the van. Cleaning up today I find the deck oil restrictor from the old block, I have no idea if the new block had one. If I don't have one will it cause any issues? I've heard of low oil pressure but no confirmations that Installing one fixed the problem. I have good oil pressure and it runs quiet but I don't want any issues down the road. I'm running 10w30 Valvoline for break in and will switch to 5w40 vr1 after break in.

My N/A engine never had one... always had good oil pressure.

I'll also say that all bearing clearances were .002. Rods were resized and block checked for straitness. The block was from an 89 2.2 tbi with no balance shaft provisions either. Oil pump hole was ported and oil galleys were tapped for pipe plugs. I think everything was covered as far as oiling except the restrictor. If the 89 2.2 tbi came with it, it may still be In there. The machine shop was good about replacing everything he removed. I just never checked if it was there.
