I need a pair of Daytona rear bumper brackets. Mine do not have any kind of shock absorber thing in them (my fronts do, though). They're just a colapseable c-channel type of column. They're both very rusty and one is partially colapsed. I want to straighten out my rear bumper, the colapsed one makes it look lopsided.

Here's one of my bad ones...

I'll crawl under the car this weekend and see if mine are still good. I'll let you know.

Since you are hunting for weight, do you actually still need the brace there or can you just leave the bumper cover?

Technically, I have to have the brace. But, it will get trimmed a bit.

Can you fab a brace out of aluminum? The "stock" rules are more written for cars with actual metal bumbers you can see so you cannot remove them, but....

Bump. I got a pair of these from someone on TD.com, but they're not right. They're an inch too long, and the bolt pattern is different. If I can't find a decent set, I guess I'll just fix the ones I have.

Mine are about 5" from body to bumper, FWIW...

I finally got a chance to look at mine. They are not as bad as yours but not good enough to try to sell. Sorry

I'm assuming these are different than the L-body ones?

I have no idea.

Before looking, I would've assumed they'd all be the same just to simplify things. But, apparently, that's not the case. I bought a set that were supposed to be from a Daytona, but they must be from a later car; they're an inch longer than mine and the bolt pattern is different...

I'm going to start taking my Daytona apart this weekend, I'll stick some extra L-body mounts up there to compare. Sorry I don't have rears that came off a Daytona, just a few fronts.

Might help if you put what year Dodge Daytona you're looking to get parts from.

It's an '89 (it's in my sig). I'd think they were all the same from '87-91 though, since the rear bumper is the same...

I am pretty sure I have a pair. I have 3 different sets in my garage - 89 Daytona, 89 Lancer and 87 Charger. Just got to figure which is which. Do your Daytona ones have a peg at the end that lines up with the body? I will snap some pics and post them tomorrow.

None of those looks like mine. Mine have the 2 brackets oriented 90deg to each other (rather than the bolt holes lined up); and the plate that goes against the body is flat, no ribs on the sides...

Hmm - that was the only one that was 5 inches between trhe brackets. Here is a pic of the other 2 types I have.

None of them look like mine. I have no idea what they might be from...
