Turbo Charger Removal

Can you remove the turbocharger and manifold from the top of the engine on these cars?

It's the pt/ srt-4 section..... I know it can be done, but I've never done it myself so I can't offer any tips.

It's all good, all of these cars seem limited in the amount of space behind the motor. I was just seeing the quickest way of removing a turbocharger setup out of my 04 srt-4.

I've replaced the turbo cartridge on multiple PT Cruisers but not the whole assembly. Surprisingly there is a lot of room on the PT's for turbo service once you remove a couple of things like the air box, overflow bottle, and heat shields. Book time to do the whole thing is about 6 hours and I can do just the cartridge in about 3.

I'll have the car done in about 3 more hours but the turbo and manifold can be pulled out the top. You have to pull the heat shields, and the O2 housing first. Still where the placement of the bolts are it isn't the easiest without wobble sockets.

Mine is really easy to pull on my 1st gen. I think there is even more room in the back than a SRT4, but a lot less room up front.

Its a complete SRT4 engine, accesories, computer, wiring, etc...

No more 2.0 or even 1st gen neon stuff left under the hood.
