So I have this neighbor across the street who's very young, maybe 18 or so.
He and his buddy are always hot-roddin' around. His buddy has a G8 GT (auto) that he thought could take my TII Omni GLHT.http://www.turbododge.com/forums/images/smilies/tsktsk-tisk.gif The Omni absolutely destroyed him and this kinda threw down the gauntlet so to speak with these guys.
As the months went by, the transmission in the Omni went and it's been gathering dust ever since. This made my "garage queen" serve as daily driver for a while. Much to their delight, the Lancer Shelby is mostly stock with just a FWD tune, talon BOV, +20's and a kinda cheesy side-exit exhaust. Ran 14.6@98 the one time I went to the track. I inevitably raced the G8 again, and lost.http://www.turbododge.com/forums/images/smilies/extras/mad.gif That guy then moved out of the area and is seldom seen anymore......
The kid across the street however had sold his '95 Mustang for a Supercharged Harley Davidson F150. He already put a K&N cold air kit and Bassani exhaust on it. I was nervous as the Lancer just doesn't bring the heat like the Omni does. Sure enough I lost and got an earful about superchargers rule and 5.4 FTW blah, blah. I was only pushing about 12 psi, and he only won by about a car length,...time to up the boost right? Just enough to win anyway.http://www.turbododge.com/forums/images/smilies/biggthumpup.gif Installed my MBC and could go only to 14 psi!?! That's all it would do. Oh well. Race again. Another loss, (albiet by a smaller margin), but what's up with this boost leveling off at 14? Tried all my old tricks- 14psi. Swapped out the wastegate- 14psi. All the while this kid harasses me (as I'm in my driveway under the hood) by pulling up and explaining it'll never be fast and I can race his Mom's new Hyundai SUV.http://www.turbododge.com/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif
I've used Talon BOV's for years with no problems at all, but I had a spare lying around and thought "what the hey." Swapped it out in a couple minutes and went for a test drive.....SHWIIIING!!! Shot to 20 psi almost immediately as the tires were fighting for traction badly! Got it sorted out from there and waited...and waited.....http://www.turbododge.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif......couple weeks went by, then today he pulls up with a couple girls in his truck and we decide to run again for the "hell of it." He was gonna impress the ladies after all. We roll out of the neighborhood where it opens up...We mash the gas and the Lancer sounds F'n pissed! It's screamin' it's --- off as the front end is shifting side to side and the steering is fighting me like crazy. He pulls for a moment but, unlike our other races, the Lancer settled straight and is now reeling him in! By second gear I was even with him- by third I was pulling away! Rode fouth for a couple seconds just to make the gap that much bigger- then shut it down. When he pulled back up to me I was like 'I have no idea.' Tee Hee.:evil:
