View Full Version : need help
I own a 85 daytona turbo z. stock wiring and all. 153 thousand miles. Stock turbo and all..got a good deal on it. It doesnt run right though, So i pulled the engine in thought to rebuild it. I am wanting to know what i can do to make it into the low 13s. Any advice or info will help greatly. I am in the process of rebuilding atm.

First off, go read www.thedodgegarage.com
I would simply do a stock rebuild, maybe some mild porting, 88 tbi roller cam or 89 turbo roller cam, reuse the turbo, go to a blow thru setup, 2.5 inch exhaust, FMIC, new cal, 3 bar map, +40 injectors.

I'm not suggesting you don't know how, but the biggest advice i can give is learn how to drive it. And make sure you find someone that can tune it properly.
I have all the power mods for high 12's low 13's but i run 16's all day for 2 reasons:
Absolute crap 60' times (always over 2.2)
and
The current tune isn't using 100% of what the hardware will produce...
in actuality 13's shouldn't be hard, i'd bet simons list gets u most (if not all) of the way there.

Exactly, learn how to drive as well, most of the battle, tuning and slicks, :thumb:

Launching a FWD car is difficult.
Launching a turbo car is difficult.
Launching a FWD turbo car is just a pain in the ---.

Okay, thanks! So i will need to get a tII turbo though? I dont think i can use the stock one. I already have +20 injectors, so would those work? Or will i be better off with +40s?

Convert your car to tii first. Make it run well, then upgrade. http://fwdmopar.50megs.com/T2conv.html

Read the webpage I posted, it shows youhow to do it plus all the other little bits that are good to know. You have the proper turbo, just needs some tweaking.
+20's work but everyone always want's more, lol.
