I had never seen the article on this so I thought I would share. Makes me tempted to stripe my van and get an airdam.41065410664106741068

Back when I had my van, I actually considerdtrying to do a custom S/C EFI setup using a turbo computer. Didn't get past the 'dreaming' stage, like so many projects...

Forkers, went all into how they stuck a TV in the corner and changed the tires (wow, that's an involved mod, bet many owners panic at the thought of doing that) and not about the body kit ...

yumm... delicious formica cabinet with vcr and FULL FEATURED CRT.

2.5 seconds off the stock 0-60 time probably means it did it in ~11 seconds. lol.

I can't believe they were using that tire machine on those wheels! Holy crap.

Awesome read!

*Sigh* I had that exact supercharger kit. Should've never got rid of it lol...

In meantime, one of those Shelby conversion vans was on CL recently out in Cali for dirt cheap. It wasn't a Caravan though, it was one of those deals where the company just used his name on it. He had his input on so many things back then its ridiculous!

Good catch but that's all they had back then, plus they had plastic covers and such.

I know. The plastic covers still tear up the clear coat pretty good though. There was a reason they eventually went to the euro machines. You use what you have when you have it.

Yep and the costs came crashing down too.

That thing was carb'd?... Guess that's a much easier way to go forced induction, not a lot of recalibrating to do, other than the timing curve and power circuit... Q&D...

I have to wonder if the supercharger doesnt take a lot of fuel out of suspension by banging rotors into it. I would think you would have to increase fuel even at idlle just to get the same amount to actually be in suspension by the time it gets to the intake port. I have done exactly zero research on this matter, though. :p

Think of those fans with the spray bottle attached, I would think it helps atomization. Also superchargers heat up pretty good so that would help.

You do realize that roots blowers sit under the carbs on V8's right? :p

Who needs droplet suspension if it vaporises off a hot rotor.

This seems to be the last part of a multi-part special. I really want that gfx kit.

There is another article in the same magazine about them taping off and spraying the stripes. The only thing said is the gfx were prototype made by ventre. Which i don't think ever was produced i would love that kit.

Call him up, see if he still has the tooling for them...

Nevermind. Looks like he died in '99. The guy also had a ton of patents...

Seems like a very interesting guy...

Looks like he designed some of the famous Hayes wheels in the 60's (for Motor Wheel Corp, which was bought by Hayes)...

It also looks like he may have designed the convertible top for Toyota's 1979 Celica -

And, this certainly looks like the Shelby Dakota Roll bar -

So I found a copy of the magazine on ebay, and it references the March '86 issue as covering the supercharger install and body work sans paint.
