Would like a new stock roller cam and followers, lifters too.
For Slug and Mini's engine rebuilds. After 200k miles want to start off fresh.
Anyone got some brand new stock stuff lying around?

Any parts store would have the cams and rockers, Rockauto most likely and get PT lifters from the dealer.

The rockauto stuff is just as good as original equipment for the cam?

I was going to do PT lifters but is it worth it? I don't have a source for the properly sized and shaped washers. Is there anyone cutting them for proper fit?

Junkyard TBI cam, just as good, better than Turbo cam.

If your stock lifters are in good shape, no, not worth it. If your stock lifters needs to be replace, yes, it's worth it.

Well after nearly 200k miles i was going to put in new ones with this rebuild. I think Mini might have one or two bad ones or a sticking valve or something. She runs rough on a warm restart. Slug had some that were noisy. So either way i'll be getting new lifters.

On the tbi cam, is it just 88? or any tbi? I'll have a 92 2.5 tbi acclaim in a couple weeks as Slug's new body. I could swap that cam if usable.

The TBI cam you want is the 88 TBI roller, square tooth, trouble is, unless the car is unmolested, you never really know what cam it has.

Rockauto etc are fine for stock engines, the PT's are worth it, The Pope has washers or I can get them. I can also get reground stockers or whatever you need doing, within reason of the base cam or I have billet options.

I've used non 88 tbi cams with great success. Had a warped head that would break them, just used whatever.

Does anyone have the Mopar part number i should be shooting for for that flavor cam??
There are several listed on ebay but they are listed as everything under the same application PN turbo and tbi.

No, you don't want a cam from Rock Auto. They only show the Sealed Power CS785 and CS922 cams. All of the 'CS' cams have only about 0.415" lift and much less duration than the stock cams (like 190-194 deg insteadof ~230). If you don't care, and you just want a 'new' cam, then I guess use one...

If you choose to go with that cam, Summit actually has the best price on it by far, or at least it did last summer when I was assembling a new engine for my Daytona. As for the rockers, go on Ebay and search "Daytona NOS". There is a guy selling sets of NOS Mopar rockers for far less than anywhere else I have found. I've got them in both the Daytona and the GLHS.

If you really want the CS 751 cam, I have one I'll GIVE you for the price of shipping it...

FWIW, I measured that cam myself at 0.415 lift, 205 intake duration and 240 exhaust @ 0.05" lift. That's about 10 deg less duration, and 0.01" less lift than a stock used turbo roller; and about 15 deg less duration than a TBI roller cam.

Thanks Rob.
I had found on inspecting mine with a buddy that my stocker is chipped on at least one lobe.
So as long as i am in need of a new one i may as well go for the "free" upgrade.
I guess if i can't find a stock tbi i'll just get a stock turbo roller. Failing finding those NOS, i guess i'll slap a used cam in there.
Not interested in a big cam, (or less cam than current) the stock stuff has worked well for what these cars do.

But i certainly appreciate the offer as well as the info. Let me see if i can get lucky.

Wow this thread was older than I thought!
Anyway just got an NOS Mopar cam 04387850 from an eBay seller.
Probably get followers and lifters from TU, but if I do the PT lifters I need washer shims?
Who is the "go-to" guy to go to for those?

Go to guy is Fastenal store (lol). 1/4" william washers #1133581 sold in packs of 25. The sets I have bought varied by several thousands in thickness, so make up three sets the best you can.

And those washers are tapered like the lifters? Or they just sit in the very bottom at the lowest diameter of the lifter bore?
There's a Fastenal right next door to work! Yay! :)

What is the actual dimension measurement we are trying to make up? What is the best thickness matched set to use?
Thanks :)

Yes they are tapered. IIRC they are around .125 thick. +/- .005 or so. Any of them will be close enough, afterall they are a hydraulic lash adjuster.

Wow. That SKU was listed on their website as a pack of 25, but when I called they said they are now a pack of 50.
But she let me order just 25 for like $10 and some change.
