Just finished putting a new clutch in my 92 IROC R/T. The car has an A523 and I can't get it into 5th or reverse with the shifter. Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it. I can get the car in 5th and reverse by pushing on the levers on the tranny but I can't do it in car right now. Real frustrating. Also pulling the 24 Code as usual. Running a FWD Stage 5 tune. I know it is the TPS and I have replaced this stupid part many times.

I would strongly suspect the shifter cable is the problem at some point along the line with the shifting problem.

Found my service manual and reset the home position, now all gears work, but my TPS is going goofy. I have 5 volts on both the signal in and the reference voltage line...

I suspect you have a goofy TPS issue then....

:D

Check you didn't pinch the wire somewhere and short them together. Or check the TPS shaft is rotating and isn't stuck. Or check you didn't get a strand of swarf or something in the connector bridging them.

Replaced the TPS and everything is happy now.

If you're going through a lot of them, then shielding it from the nearest source of heat might be helpful.

This is the first new one I have bought, I was using used ones from the junkyard. Car seems to run much better now, just gonna drive it and see what happens. Is it normal for a tu clutch to feel like it is still touching the flywheel? When I disengage my clutch, it makes a noise, I only have 125 miles on the new clutch.
