Me too! I'm very sad I couldn't make it. My Dad was racing his 2001 Mustang at the autocross, he took a few photos for me but not nearly enough. He was also dismayed to be soundly beaten by a certain 85 Aries.

The brz's were on one four slicks. They are a rear drive car too. And they all got spanked by a "Stock" purple neon with some suspension mods and equal tires.

It's a 90 prototype that was sent to Cars & Concepts for T-Tops (even has the adjustable suspension buttons). It got left there when the t-tops were cancelled where the current owner bought it and made it rear wheel drive 20 years ago. It never had a drivetrain until it was converted.

So what did Ralph have to say about our merry little band...Did he like what he was seeing???Ralph has been sort of a fan of our cars for a long time. Years ago he used to road race a white minivan. But even before that he came to a dyno day the Great Lakes SDAC chapter organized. He brought an Alpha-Romeo to it. But he liked our cars quite a bit. At the time, one of his best friends had a very nice 86 GLHS that was also a road race car.

At SDAC-18, he came to our road course day and brought his black Viper. He has since sold that car and now has the SRT-4 he brought to our show Sunday. Besides being a really nice guy, he is very much a car guy. Front drive, rear drive, don't matter. So I know he saw cars he liked at our show whether he said much about it or not.

Very good pictures taken.

I had the opportunity to stop by the car show (recently moved back to Michigan) on Sunday with my wife and kids. Great to see Barry again, been many many years to say the least. Ran into Steve Menegon as well - great to see him again. Even got to see my old CSX-T 292 that was for sale - man that car is truly an amazing restoration done by Tim. Got my wheels turning again after going to the show - I've forgotten so many things over the last many years about these cars. And its great to see the club still running like it is. Told my girls they should have worn their SDAC12 shirts (last event I attended). Got me excited to go get my Blue/Silver charger from up northern Michigan and find someone to help get it back into shape again.

Looks like SDAC put on another great show this year, and was great catching up with JT again. Hope to see more photos of the event.

Thanks!

It's the white Daytona with the SDAC front plate. I ran a personal best that run, a 15.34 @ 91 mph, but had a lot of wheel hop off the line (2.65 short time).

Mike, a guy that lives near me, just joined SDAC, and was undecided whether he should attend the event. I eventually talked him into coming and now he says he won't miss another. He has the red 1990 Daytona Shelby VNT that was there. It is Kim Lyon's old car. Kim said the car once ran a low 13, but the best Mike got out of it was a mid 17. There were problems with the car and it went slower every run. We found a couple problems just before he left, and he disconnected the battery to reset the computer. We switched cars for a run just before they closed T&T and I got a 17.0 out of it (the best for the day).

On the way home his car got better and better. He was able to smoke the tires off the line and the boost held through every gear (and he smoked me in a street race). When he got back to the motel, he did a full lot length burnout, so the car has picked up tremendously. Now I don't doubt at all the 13.0 time that Kim said. Mike said the $80 he spent to drag race was probably the best money he has spent in a long time. Showing up there fixed his car.

Indeed they are! Apparently it takes a ton more computing power to handle 24 photos a second. LOL! Speaking of which, I'm having a friend get some prices on building a new computer. So the video for this might be a while. However, there's no way I can keep trying to edit it like this. according to the other Chrysler/Viper engineers that were around (a lot) at SDAC 18, his ACR had a lot of things done to it that weren't offered/available on the regular production cars. Ahhh the benefits of having connections.

I uploaded the rest of my pics to the album I posted on the first page. No drag pics because the camera was left at the hotel. Here are some of the interesting car show pics.

I used old Matchbox several weeks ago as a delivery truck. I am signed up with U-Ship and won a bid on going to Chesterton, IN to pick up a antique grandfather clock and deliver it to Paris, KY. Drove MB up there to get it, then found that it WOULD fit in the 95 Neon (Cheap Skate) so the next day delivered it to KY. Old MB got it's second best mpg of 29.2 (29.7 best) at 60-65 mph, while the Neon got a bit over 42. After figuring the cost of gas and allowing $1 per 100 miles for future oil changes I cleared a bit over $50, not much per hour, but a decent way to make a buck. I get free insurance on MB from a sponsor and after that run it is now beside of my house and tarp covered to keep water out due to windshield leaks. I even have a wreath on the grill and three large LED snowflakes on the side!

I've looked at u-ship before, never really thought of doing small courier jobs from it though, might look into that... thx for the tip.

(come to think of it, I have a giant green tarp, and a sun umbrella with stand, now if I stand the umbrella on top of the car then drape the tarp, it'll look like a christmas tree right? :D)

It did for me. That's a huge high vacuum area. The spoiler is doing NOTHING! If you want d'force on the back then it needs to be up on top of the hatch. Like So: http://www.pnw-sdac.org/gallery/v/Members+Rides/Jay+Jochec/85+GLH+Turbo/0209071700.jpg.html

You must have more vacuum above it than below it. In which case it will make the rear end light at speed, provided the hatch stays closed.

---------- Post added at 10:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 AM ----------

IMO ideal placement would be at 2/3 height of the car.... right in the way of rear vision.

The second half of the week was reasonable winter wrenching weather, I was outside at -1 yesterday, working while it was snowing... :D

Pro-tip, when you've got enough snow on the ground, you can make bank it up all round what you're working on to i) cut the wind, ii) reflect some light on the job, and iii) reflect heat when the sun is out... ... you can make yourself a nice little parabolic reflector focused on the car, so when it's -5 and sunny, it feels like 10 above.

I do tend to wimp out at -10C and below though, due to "extra crap" namely, skin starts to stick to metal quickly, penetrant, brakleen etc won't spray, even if you keep it in a beer coozy, wiring is too damn stiff to manipulate, well in bundles, hoses need their ends dunked in boiling water or something before you can get their ends over a fitting, then also parts of the car might be "cold soaked" way below -10 overnight and you tend to start snapping bolts off all over the place due to the metal weakening.... also I fugging hate working in gloves... then also with most cars built in the last 25 years, they're a little tight in places and you can't get your arm into anything when you've got your winter coat on under your overalls.

Even though i wasn't born here, I've lived in socal almost al my life. I can't wrap my head around why people choose to live in the north and north east, basically any place with miserable winters, and rust issues happen on a car. Going out to go to work in the winter it might be in the 30's or 40's f and to me that is miserable. I can't even imagine the idea of going out at 0 or below.

you forgot the part about when you do come inside and wash your hands, it is only then you realize your hands are all cut up and bleeding. Because it was so cold outside you didn't feel anything, and you barely bled due to the cold!

Although i've never had to deal with -30 to -40C (except at work in our 4 story freezer) I did come from New England and it got plenty cold enough below zero for me!

If he builds a little igloo in the fall, it is a humongous stadium by spring. The snow melts on the inside and the extra snow on the outside keeps building. I understand with a little fire they stay about 40 F.
