What's the best way to clean a wideband o2 sensor?

I'm taking one out of a car to put in another and thought it would be a good time to clean it seeing as it's pretty black.

Thoughts?

O2 sensor on my wifes Toyota threw a code (reset it a couple times but it still kept coming back) so I pulled it and went to Toyota. Found out the replacement was $350 so I cleaned it with brake clean and put it back in. Still works good 3 years later.

Worked for me:eyebrows:

Use a propane torch like the ones you solder plumbing with. It will also clean fouled spark plugs like new, you just have to let it cool to room temperature before installing them.

Brake cleaner, ouch, that should ruin it.

Propane torch BUT its not advisable so do at your own risk. If its dirty and works, just wipe it down and reinstall it.

Edit, sensors are also self cleaning.

I think it's chlorinated brake cleaner that's the definite no-no.

Propane torch gets my vote.
