I desperately need to replace them I'm going through about 2 quarts of oil a week. My question is how difficult are these to replace? I've been pitting it off for way to long.

I've never done a front seal in the car, but they aren't too bad. You'll have to remove the crank sprocket. The oil pan is pretty straight forward in my experience.

The crank seal is going to be the hardest part just due to having to pull the belt and crank sprocket. It can be done in the car easily.

I've gotta get this fixed before I end up replacing the motor.

What car? CB's need the special puller or you need to make one for the crank sprocket or your not getting it off. Once its off, use a small pick and put a hole in the seal, get a small self tapping screw and put that in, the use pliers etc to pull the seal out, DO NOT knick or damage the crank surface where the seal rides or your up shitt creek without a paddle. Wipe off all the oil with brake cleaner, get the seal, Gates are the best, same as OE but way cheaper, coat the outside with anerobic sealer, NOT RTV, coat the lip with a slight bit of oil, carefully wiggle back onto the crank, you might need to use a small screwdriver to lift up the lip over the crank seal snout, then carefully hammer flush with the right size socket-30mm comes to mind and your done.

The no a/c is the only reason I haven't gone to get it :( Heat stroke sucks.

Since you are taking off the oil pan you could also remove the four bolts that hold the whole front seal housing on and then very easily replace the seal without any fear of nicking crank. Probably just as quick to do it that way. It is possible that aluminum housing could be leaking too. Make sure oil leak isn't coming from aux. shaft seal and winging it all down the front of the motor making it look like crank seal is leaking. Seen that several times before.

It could also be the oil galley plug, that's bitten me a few times, :banghead:

Haha but this I'd so much easier. It will take a day to clean out the junk in the garage just to get my car in it.
