View Full Version : Master Cylinder 'blowby' ruins booster?

That master cylinder has gotten worse, and it's getting replaced now instead of later, money be dammed.

That said: it's been seeping a bit out the end where it attaches to the brake booster. There's a tiny ring of eaten-up paint around the MC, and then a trail of eaten paint down the booster to the dripping point.

Is it likely that the booster has been ruined by this, or is the damage going to be only cosmetic?

Seems like they all look like that when they get old. Never seemed to affect mine..

Chances are it's just cosmetic. Brake fluid won't harm or degrade rubber.

Thanks, all. I'll just "forget" about it. Or maybe I'll use some of that flat black spraypaint I've got. :-)

Clean good whike brake cleaner before painting.
