OK guys, need possible issues and potential fixes. It's for my Shelby Lancer. Reverse and 1st work fine. No dice when trying to shift out of 1st. New convertor as well. Hughes.

Just a stock type VB ? If reverse is applying then atleast the rear band servo is working. Do you have a pressure gauge to read line pressures ?

Stock valve body. No pressure guage. Reeves has one. Waiting for it to finish dripping. Reverse and 1st work fine. rooster tail where it should have been...

Sounds like a fiarly stock rebuild (?)

So it won't shift out of first?

Correct fluid level?
Is the throttle cable adjusted properly?
Small bits of debris sticking the governor?

Stuck governor, valve body put together incorrectly or sticking valves. TV adjusted properly? How did you adjust the front band and is it working? Air check the servo.

Tv is the cable that runs from the throttle body to the trans. If out of adjustment it will shift late or not at all if it's broke.

There is a pressure port at the rear of the oil pan closest to the back of the car. This is the governor test port. You can remove the plug and use a rubber tipped blow gun to shuttle the governor valves. This will usually unseat whatever's stuck in there if it's a governor problem.

Also, the 2 governor tubes may not be seated properly, you gotta be very gentle when you're prying them out if you remove the valve body.

Thanks, will look for the pressure port and the tubes slipped out easily....

If it's broKen it shifts early, not late.

This might be a stupid question but it is not a Rev manual valve body and you have it what you think is drive by chance.

Understandable.

Loosen the 18mm locknut, snug down the adjuster then back off 1.5 turns, hold it and tighten the lock nut.
