Tried bypassing my A/C to see if that's the pulley causing my scraping noise. Keeps throwing the belt after the first turn off of the idler.

This is the style of idler I have
39512

Is there a trick? When the car was repainted I'm guessing the belt routing was overwritten, but i bet the route just skips the A/C.

What are you guys running without A/C doing?

EDIT: The idler has a little axial play even when its torqued down, causing a bit of a wobble. Was there a washer or anything behind them from the factory?

I just use the GoodYear Gatorback 4060667 belt for a non A/C setup

Looking at this I think I messed up the routing, that'll teach me to drink after the work is done instead of during!

I think im still going to space the idler out a little, it is much closer to the front than the rear of the pulley.

I could only find a 5060670 in stock locally but the tensioner should be able to take up the .3" of slack.

Thanks again!

Re-Routed the belt the right way, same issue. Put a washer behind the pulley pictured above and fired it up, has not jumped yet. Its possible this belt is too long, going to see if I can find a 66.7. Also the idler still has play in it but when I take it off it's like brand new. Guess its possible this bolt is too long.

Ended up going with a shorter bolt, flipping the insert for the idler and adding another washer. The belt rides where it should. I'm thinking the idler isn't the right one but it should work for now!

Maybe this thread will help someone in the future, otherwise it was pretty useless!
