Its going to be a few months to be done need the start of the manifold on the pasenger side today.

This is going to be about a 3-4 month time to get it done.

The plan: Add about 60-80HP running 5-7psi do it dirt cheap.

Parts:
1. Turbo t3t4 50 trim
2. 38mm external waste gate
3. MS fuel only ecu
4. larger junk yard injectors will get them flow tested.
5. 2.5in open EX
6. 2inIC pipe NO intercooler
7. Add one way valve where I need them on vac lines.
8.Going to try to use FWD manifolds and modify them.
9. May be adding a AL radiator that's over sized for better cooling.

Here is the start of it.

how nice was it to weld on cast iron?

i used 3800sc injectors. they are high impedence.

Not that I know how to tell the difference, but some manifolds are cast steel, not cast iron. The practical difference is that you can MIG weld cast steel.

ahhhhh okay. maybw ours are steel? if so itl make my extrnal dump easy to weld

I don't know. I have heard many stories of DSM oem manifolds with External wastegate flanges welded on....that fail. Then others that work out. Supposedly it has more to do with welding quality and what filler you used. I would assume its cast until awesomely proved wrong.

I (file://\\I) was very superized when I cut it I used a hammer and it just bent alot more then I would have thought cast would. I had a diff manifold and it looks diff. I even said something to my brother about it.

Was that a 2.5 or 2.25" (1980's with larger 52mm tb) exit manifold?

should be a 2.5inch exit. its my old manifold

but now that i think about it.. i dont think i measured it. i know the pipe coming off it from the factory was 2.5inch

I see some have used a Stock ecu.. How? What I would like to do is put it on and run low boost and then later get a MS I think. I know I am slow...... But I am still wanting to do it. Did you use a FMU?

Woah, this project is still going? Great to hear! I had thoughts of doing the same when i briefly owned a 12v 3.0 Montero this year. They are really neat trucks. So is that crossover pipe really going to fit behind the motor with no mods?

I dont think it would in the montero that it came in no... But I have done a motor swap and its in what they are a 2.5gen 1997 it came with a 3.5 24v motor. Was Blown when I got it so I put in my old trusty 3.0 12v has about 28K miles now. I have about 4-5in from the back of the block to the fire wall. I not sure about the crossover pipe as I don't have a OEM one..... Any one have one they would sell me? If not I will just fab up something . I am modding both manifolds to have the crossover pipe fit tighter to the block then what the OEM manifolds are. How steep of a FMU Might I want to get what have others used?

The more I think I need to get a Cheap MegaSquirt setup. I just wish I could find like a good used MS1 and just run the fuel. I will have to keep my eyes out for something I think.

Adjustable FMU or I consider them worthless. If you can't get it just right, you won't get much value out of your setup. You don't want to have to sit over rich because you can't get AFR where you want it.

Cruise Craigslist (I use Searchtempest.com and look countrywide), I have found two MSII's for very acceptable costs and in good shape.

Well I talked to my brother and I can run his Hawk c12 ECU. His Starion is down. And he is working on rebuilding it. We have a spare plug just need to wire it all up. Will get the ECU on there and get a Good N/A tune and then work on the turbo setup some more. He has a turbonetics t3 center and stage 3 housing. Needs a rebuild and a intake wheel and housing and back plate..Any one have any of the turbo parts they don't need??? But as far as I can see I can get a new E-bay turbo for less and if it goes out then I can use those parts to rebuild the turbonetics turbo.

For a ebay turbo stick with on3 turbo's, They seam to hold up better than the rest on there.

on3 stuff seems to only have bigger turbos....

Huh, so the gen 2.5 trucks have different firewalls, or just move all the mounts forward on the frame?

I hadnt noticed that you had shortened the crossover part of the manifold. How much did you take out?

Has the truck run with the 12v engine? Did you swap the engine harness and ECU to the older stuff as well?

I think the transmission just is a bit longer so the motor sits up front a bit more. I cant remember how much I shortened the crossover part I think it was about .75in or so. And yes I have put about 6k miles on it since the swap. Yes I put ecu and engine harness. The 3.5 ecu would not work very ezly I would have had to add a crank trigger. I will work on getting a few more pics of the manifold all done.
