This was my first official race since my build.
Came off the express way and as I merged I noticed an orange challenger black hood about 50 yards back. Slowed down and stopped for a fresh yellow. Turned red and there he was next to me. Two guys in a car looking at an omni. Light turns green, I accelerate just enough to keep in front of him and that's when he jumps on the throttle. The car basicly jumps in front. ----!!! Shift to secound no traction (40*F) he has two cars by then but he is not pulling away. Come around a soft left. Let off the gas, no use trying to pass, he was in the middle of the 2 lanes. And there is another light that turns red. For once I'm happy of untimed traffic lights! The guy's are giving me thumbs up, seem happy that they beat an Omni. I give them a smile, drop the smile and signal him to get ready for a second run. Light changes, we both leave hard of the line but his car jumps on me again. His car doesn't loose traction one f:mad:ing bit!! I'm trying to get mine to hook. Once I hit third he has a car on me and that's where it ends. I pulled up on him like a train and shifted into forth when I got at his front fender and kept on pulling at the same rate.

He came up to me with the windows rolled down and he was freaking:confused:. I asked him if he had the SRT-8 engine because the car had no badges. He told be no. That's when I popped the question. What mods do you have. Wasn't expecting an answer. He just shouted "EVERYTHING". PISTONS, INTAKE, HEADER'S, CAM, Exaust, Cold air, CHIPPED."

We came up to a fork in the road and I just thanked him for being my first victime. He opened it up and turned away as I continued almost at idle on my little humble way.

Nice. What mods do you have on your GLH?
Here is my engine set-up:
2.2 block forged crank, rods and pistons +.020 over
52mm TB
Ported 2 piece intake
Ported 782 head with stock s/s valves (don't have the flow numbers!!!)
F3 cam
TU Header
S60 turbo with 3" swingvalve
3" mandrel bent s/s exaust with resonator and muffler, no cat.(sexy)
Budget intercooler (xs power)
+40 % injector
3 bar map
FWDP stage 5

Car has coilovers, SLH3, poly's sway bar, roll bar, complete interior!!
Expected more power, but it's fine for now. Will be fine tunning and hopefully pull some extra pony's out of it.

Awesome Spiro. I think you'll find some more HP. Are you happy with that Cam?

The cam is good and idles great. You'll see it a SDAC. (are you going?) I have to scratch my head for the power. Everybody seems to agree that there is more power in there....... but where?
I'm wondering if it is the pt lifters?

more boost :)
Noooooooo.....aah, yes.Hold on, no,no,no. Well maybe...just a little.
That being said, boost is addictive. I know the car can take it being forged and ballanced and all, but I need dependability. It is a daily driver and my new track car.
If I turn up the boost I will never go back. Think of Adam and the apple.:amen:

then id would say an upper plenum would be a good choice for more power at the same boost pressure, and a fairly "easy" swap.

What are your dyno numbers?

Opticon

You are making 300 ftlbs lower in the band but something is falling apart higher in the revs. You should have another 50hp up top. Are you running a stock .48 turbine housing or something?

spiro440

It probably sounds dumb, but I don't know! It a turbonetics s-60 Which I think is .48 but I could be mistaken. Wasn't .42 stock?
Power band is 303lbs at 3950 rpm and 248 hp 5100. If I could post the chart you would see that the torque drops like a rock.
50 extra hp seems excessive but you are not the first to state those numbers. I had made 18hp less with a s-60 computer on a stock t2 with the same head and 2.5" exaust and stock intercooler, and it was pig rich. It was a deception when I rebuilt it with bigger turbo,f3 cam, 3" swing valve, FMI, +20 pistons etc.... and a tuned computer to only get thosse numbers. The car runs great don't get me wrong, but an extra 30 would have been nice.

My Turbonetics Super 60 came with a .63 A/R. If you aren't breaking up on the dyno or leaking boost and you are running a .48 A/R turbine it would be the first thing I suspect.

Everything else in your intake/exhaust path seems to support 300hp.

I'll look into that. Thanks

I found it Spiro...

http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_advanced.html

S60 specs:

Compressor housing A/R .42
Exhaust housing A/R .63
Compressor inducer 48.5 mm
Compressor exducer 60 mm
Exhaust turbine diameter 48 mm

If you don't wish to purchase the whole kit, S-60 turbos (along with a wide variety of other turbos) can be purchased from Turbonetics. Again even more so then the regular "plus" unit this turbo in a 2.2 daily driven situation will feel very laggy compared to a stock turbocharger. The ideal combo for a 2.2 engine & daily street use IMHO is the S60 compressor housing & larger wheel with the .48 exhaust housing BUT this will limit you to 250-270 hp. The .63 housing is REQUIRED for 270+ hp!! Clipping the wheel or installing a larger turbine wheel will not remove this obstacle, this has been proven time and again on the dyno. The 2.5 engine on the other hand responds well to the S60 turbo and its larger exhaust housing due to the fact the 2.5 engine has torque to spare and has higher exhaust flow demands.

Is the info stamped or taged on the turbo anywhere?

You can tell by looking at the housing, the flat part is wider and if you look inside the turbine entrance, its either stamped there or on the outside, .63 a/r.

Spiro, I can see the .63 stamped on my exhaust housing from the top of the engine bay, it's looking right at me located on the throat @ the gas entry point.

Thanks Mike, In my face .63 A/R.
So back to square one. I will try a different cal.

What are your dyno numbers?

if that question was for me, i havent dynod it yet, i put everything together ran into some electrical issues got fed up and parked it for sometime until a year ago. but ive been recently getting heavy back into it. only different is i dont have a cam, or header or for that matter a modded head. i just ported everything (head, 2 piece, exhaust mani) lol but i have a .63 a/r s60, stock valve train ( wanted dependability for dd use ) but its been mildly ported. shoot ill be happy with 250+
