Weird electrical issue

Working on a 89 daytona

I have a 2 button traveler and have never had issues, but recently whenever the dome light is turned on, via switch for opening a door it shuts off and erases everything in its memory, time driven, miles and such. This doesnt make any sence to me. I pulled up a wiring diagram and still doesnt make much sence to me, the diming of the traveler works just fine, but its just the extra click over to turn the dome light on that powers it down.

Would desconnecting the headlight switch be worth a shot and see if its that? according to the wiring diagram it says the traveler aka trip navigator on mitchell is ran like so

#3 terminal is battery
4 is distance sensor
5 is display dimming
6 is low fuel ecu pin 1-36???
7&8 are blank
9 is ground
10 is illum to fuse #12
11 is fuel tank
12 is ign
and 13 is ground again

if any of that makes sence

When I replaced the headlight switch it did work fine for a while.

Also wanted to that eith the key on and the lights on u hear a chime it also turns off when the dome light is on. I pulled the headlight switch out and again with it disconnected the traveler n chime goes out

All of these problems started after a penny made its way into my cig lighter. If i plug a converter into the cig lighter it has power but doesnt charge??!?!
