I bought my wife a 1999 Carvan, 3.3, early this year. Nice van, but I was always amazed at the fuel it used. Recently I had a chance to get some decent fuel economy measurements. Lately its been 95+ degrees out, so these are with the air conditioner on high constantly:

Highway (65-75 mph) over 250 miles - 20.2 mpg
In town - 11.3 mpg

Oh, my, this sux. Me thinks its time to do something.

1.) I'm certain a new O2 would help a bunch. Since I'm concerned about the economy, should I use a Mopar sensor or will a parts store sensor be fine in this situation?

2.) Van has 100k miles. I haven't really crawled underneath, but the exhaust sounds perfect. Should I be concerned that the cat is due for replacement?

3.) Basic tune up stuff looks fairly new - wires, filteres, etc. Is there anything else I should look into replacing to better the economy?

Get it checked out for codes, yea i would start with a Mopar o2. Also look to see if it is flex fuel (it probably is) you can run e85 in it.
