Does anyone know if the ECM for an 88 2.2l non-turbo auto trans will work ok in an 88 2.2l non-turbo with manual trans?

It will run but the idle will probably be higher or at the very least a bit off since the manual transmission sitting in neutral spinning the input shaft isnt anywhere near the drag of the pump spinning in an automatic. There might also be a fault code since its looking for a lockup torque converter thats not there.

No LU so no worries there.
I've run both in my auto van and didn't realize notice any difference. As said, the idle could be a tad higher but nothing to write home about.

Lockup TC was implemented starting in 87 for the TBI cars.

Thanks for the info. From what I can tell setting the fault code would not affect computer operation it is just a recording of the detected fault - correct?

yeah. Kinda like how we always have a code 12 stored in the computer, even if you use a scan tool to reset it.
