Anyone have one? Driven one? Is it undrpowered or ok as a daily driver? How about the 2.4 non turbo? Inquiring minds want to know.........:D

I've driven and worked on hundreds of these cars.... the Caliber is a turd with the CVT automatic trans, no matter what engine. Its a shame that it never came with the 41TE auto trans. The 2.4 non-turbo with the 5sp manual trans is actually quite peppy and will knock down a solid 30mpg on the expressway.

Well, that puts it out of the running as i need an auto trans car and even though i don't need a hot rod, would like some pep to a vehicle.......I do like the Chevy Equinox and Saturn Vue, I'm not thrilled by a PT due to the way the engine is shoehorned in. Looking at some Chevy HHR's this weekend... Thanks for your input.

The Equinox with the 2.4 isn't exactly a barn burner either. Even the 3.0 is slower than I expected from a stop. The 2.4 does get good mileage, though. The HHR should get about the same mileage as the equinox, but will be sportier.

Reason i asked about the 2.0/2.4 was that was they are in a price range i could concievably afford if i sell what i have at close to what i would like to get, the SRT Caliber is way out of my league. The Equinox/Vue/Torrent(Pontiac) in my price range are v6's

You are looking at the first generation ones. My mom has a 2006 Vue Redline and likes it. We have a 2011 Equinox and like it. The HHR would be a good ride too.

I have driven an Equinox SS with the 3.6 DOHC. Now those get down the road fairly well... Definitely an underrated vehicle.
